I have been an Arizona State Sun Devil Fan for years. In that time I have seen the University go through 4-5 new head football coaches. Some of these coaches have taken us to some big bowl games, and others were a complete let down. None have ever turned this team into a big time college football program.
Late last year, Arizona State University under the direction of Lisa Love (Athletic Director) decided to part ways and fire Dirk Koetter.
Alumni and Fans were happy with this decision based on where Mr. Koetter was taking the program.
Lisa was able to finally recruite Dennis Erickson to come take over the job as the football coach for Arizona State University. The University hopes to see Erickson turn the Sun Devils into a big time program with hopes of big bowl opportunities and a National Title Contender in years to come.
Welcome to the Erickson Era.
Last week the Arizona State Sun Devils opened up their season with a win at home against San Jose State. The coaching and preparation for this game was excellent. Coach Erickson had his team ready and they came out to play. They ran and executed good plays. There was very few mental mistakes on the field. Penalties were low, and for the first time in about 10 years, I did not see sloppy ASU style football. I left the game thinking Wow, what a great coached and executed game. I will be looking forward to seeing more ASU football.

Now lets speed up to tonights game. The Sun Devils pulled out a win by 19 points against Colorado. This team was for sure more of a challenge. What I ended up watching was a very bad horror film. The Sun Devils biggest opponent tonight was themselves. They were not prepared properly, they had over 100 yards in penalties. I completly blame the coaching for this mess. There was no emotion, no execution and no discipline. I am not sure what Erickson did this week to prepare the team for this game. Frankly I am disappointed by Erickson. Here we go again being sold a bag of goods that this head coach will get the Sun Devils ready for play. All the fans ask for are 60 minutes of heart and well executed football. The talent will come, if he truly knows how to build a program. I know this is his 2nd game as the new head coach for ASU football, and maybe I have this guy pegged wrong, only time will tell. But please Mr. Erickson get our team prepared and earn your paycheck. Otherwise leave.

Ok, open mouth insert foot. Coach Erickson, has really turned this program around, and I had him pegged wrong.
Go Devils!
