Who writes this articles?!?

This media crapp is going to kill me....Do you guys read the news?

I do I spend at least two hours a day trying to stay up to date with whats going on, so I can better understand what might happen.. I don't just read the news. I also check with the local government about zoning changes, upcoming sales, you know the whole gamment. But these junk articles are driving me crazy...

You would think we were in the Great Depr ession...And it is starting to make me sick!! The stats change from article to article, sometimes in the same PAPER. Then everyday I have to answer contless calls and e-mails, because my clients, whom I love dearly, read that article and want to know what I think....Lately I've been telling them that the media is making me sick...Many markets are down now, but we are not in California or Ohio, Thank God (no offense I feel for the ones of you having to indure that market). Our beach and condo market is down. I can not deny that...but your home is in beautiful Loris, South Carolina. Most of my market is here so I'm inserting that as an example. Where the market is almost where it was last year and holding steady. We are seeing home prices fall slightly, but thats, because agents, lenders, and appraisers got caught in this last whirlwind causing a overinflated market. Many of you got rich.

To the lucky ones congrats...You got in and out...

To the ones who made money, but are now stuck....Cut your loses and wait to your market settles...

To the ones who got hosed in the end...You were told you could get rich and were the last one in at the height of the market. Bless your little hearts, I don't know what to tell you, besides there is no such thing as a sure deal. Money/riches are not made overnight.

To all of you EDUCATION is expensive....I hope we all learn something from this.

Back to the orginal rant. Find a local agent in your market. Ask them what the market is doing. Make sure this is a person who is up to date in the market, and keeps up with all the ups and downs. That doesn't mean they've been in the business 30 years or something. In most cases those agents, and I did say MOST not all(no hate mail PLEASE) this agents feel that they know to much already, and tend to not be as up to date as a younger agent...

AND PLEASE STOP READING THIS ............

Good news doesn't sell papers...unfortunately

Thank you  Thank  you Thank you. They are so broad brush it is silly . If it isn't bad news they seem not to report it

I couldn't agree with you more. I am in California where the market is definitely not what it was last year, but the media is wreaking havoc.

Why don't you apply to write a real estate column for your local newspaper?

Maybe we need another war or god forbid another terrorist attack to divert the media's attention from the Real Estate correction.  Not saying I want either, but it is a concept in keeping with the fact that "gloom and doom" stories attract eyeballs which sells ad space and newspapers.  Sad state of affairs if you let it get you down.  Knowing the phenomenon for what it is hte first step towards finding a way to make it work for you.

Can you believe I didnt' get points for this one...I wrote too many blogs this week...What a rip off...

Newspaper good Ideal...Thanks Crystal

Brandon,

I really liked the points you made at the end, I would say that sums it up quite nicely! :)

Suzanne thanks for commenting

Crystal I'm thinking of writing a column once a week for my local newspaper...What do you think?

I love this post.
