Tools of the Trade Tip 1The first Tools of the Trade Tip is on how to get various documents into .pdf files. I have had lenders, appraisers, title companies, and other industry related professionals send me documents which could not be opened. PDF stands for Portable Document Format and is a universal format that preserves most if not all the fonts and sizes, graphics, and formatting of the original document and allows everyone to have the ability to open the .pdf file by using Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free program that comes with most computers but can be downloaded at http://www.adobe.com/downloads if you do not have it). I used to use a proprietary .pdf converter but now I use PrimoPDF which can be found at http://www.primopdf.com/ and can be downloaded at http://www.download.com/ for FREE. The program will convert your email, document, spreadsheet, database, photo, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint and many other file formats. You can even append a second document to the first document making it a multiple page .pdf file. http://www.primopdf.com/primopdf_support_manual.aspx provides a user manual which explains how to make the conversion and how to save the new file created. To have the best tools available to you in buying or selling a home, give me a call and put my toolbox to work for you. Thanks and "Don't keep me a secret--I'm never too busy for your referrals!" |
