Beginning in the rich farmland of the Willamette Valley, this 66 mile route then winds along rushing streams and through thick forests, climbing into the West Cascades and McKenzie Pass, and joins the McKenzie Pass- Santiam Pass National Scenic Byway.
Much of the Byway parallels the Santiam Wagon Road, and this road was built to lead livestock ranchers east to pasture lands in Central Oregon, as well as to gold mines in Eastern Oregon and Idaho.
The Byway begins on Interstate 5. Moving East from Interstate 5, you'll first come to Brownsville Oregon, which was settled in 1846 and is Oregon's third oldest town.

Hi Alecia.... the picture in your post reminds me of the "covered wagon" i dreamt about many years ago. I was with a man going somewhere. We were married but had not consummated the marriage. I was crying and was seated behind him. The man was driving and turned around to look at me and asked.... "what's the matter"? After he spoke those words, i forgot the reason i had been crying...
Years later, that dream man became my husband..... i kept looking for a covered wagon, and the Lord reminded me of the "squeaky Rivera with the canvass top". Tony did make me forget the reasons i had cried, for the Lord sent him to minister to me! Awwww I'm going to cry.... and this is supposed to be about Real Estate.

Now this is something I would really love to see! I have never been out west but I know Oregon must be a very special place. Looks like there's such beauty all around. I keep thining one of these days, I am going to get a RV and round up my family and we going to head out your way. I must put this bypass on the list. Sounds like a great place to explore.
