Recently I was discussing real estate in my marketplace with another agent and came to the realization that not everyone is familiar with my section of the state. Most people from other parts of the country think of Connecticut as one of those tiny specks on the map.
Land wise we are the 3rd smallest state consisting of just over 5000 square miles. To put it in perspective if every state was our size all 50 could fit into the area of Texas. Connecticut is a mid-size state based on population. Our 3.5 million residents make us larger than Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine combined.
The advantage of being a smaller state is the ability to drive to nearby attractions rather quickly. My location is about the mid-point in the state on the southern shoreline. Within about 1-1/2 hours we can be in Providence, Springfield or New York City.
My primary area consists of the shoreline towns of Branford, Guilford and Madison plus the more affordable towns of North Haven & North Branford. Since I am a Connecticut native I am very familiar with many other parts of New Haven County and can offer assistance on an as needed basis from West Haven to Westbrook along the shore or Woodbridge to Wallingford for interior towns.

Janie... How do you find space for chickens & horses with all those people? Cities are nice but I like a little breathing room.
Dan--Interesting that you should write this...One of my boys just mentioned yesterday out-of-the-blue that Connecticut was a boring state to be from...Like Minnesota is so much more exciting--LOL! He couldn't think of any exciting theme parks that he would want to visit, I guess. I told him that it is on the ocean and a quick drive from NYC...Pretty accurate description at least from New Haven. I guess it is still no Disneyworld in his eyes though.
Teri.. Not sure how close you need a theme park but pushing the speed limit slightly gets you there in an hour. The Superman Roller coater just won the 2007 award for best steel roller coster in the NATION if he ever wants a real thrill! Disneyworld is for babies compared to this stuff..... LOL
Dan, I was in CT only once. The girls and I took the train from Manhattan over to see the Yale campus with some friends. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon and lunch on the grass. My friend later confided that her invitation was in hopes of planting a seed in my young one's hearts...a seed for higher learning. It seems to have worked. Now if only I could afford Yale!
Dan, yep I love Connecticut, we can be almost any were in Connecticut and even most of the major cities in the neighboring states within a couple of hours, that is unless you take I-95 between New Have and New York, then it could take you a couple of hours just to go ten miles :)

Nice map you got there, now everyone has a better idea where you are. I love that I can get to my favorite place in CT in about 1 1/2 from my house here in MA! ;)
Maggie.... Yale is a nice area to visit but as most Ivy League schools a bit pricey to attend.
George... Heading to the city it's best to drop the car in New Haven and hop the train. Even took the train to my Fairfield Half Marathon since parking was scarce.
Susie... I glad to be number one on your list of Connecticut Agents.
Suzanne... You must drive fast.... thought it was about two hours.... :-)
Dan- I love this - I have often wondered exactly where you are - so really I could come for that lobster dinner - :o) wanta know how I describe where I live - find Oregon on the map draw an X going from corner to corner - see where the lines intersect - I am about 4 miles south :o) Can't get much more central than that... lol thanks for sharing (13 days whoo hoo)
Thanks for the clarification! You work and run in a beautiful area. Although we have our share of transplants from CT my neighbor is actually moving back there because she is tired of our growth and new traffic issues. I'll keep you in mind if I know anyone else heading your direction!
Dan--The funny thing is this kid does not like roller coasters...How far are you from Cooperstown? I think it has more to do with lack of a baseball stadium or other official sports team. I think he would love fishing on the ocean if he didn't have to eat it. :)

LOL On a serious note your son is correct, we don't hold on to any sports teams. Hockey was the only one but the Hartford Whalers left years ago. The baseball hall of fame is about 4 hours away. BTW... Does WWFcount? The World Headquarters is in Stamford.

Dan--No wrestling fans in this crowd...But I would guess that Connecticut is so close to so many MLB teams that you have your choice when cheering...He is a Boston fan ever since Doug Mientkiewicz left the Twins.
Teri... Boston's less than 2-1/2 hours, never been to Fenway but took in Bruins game or two...
