What are the trends and the most sought of amenities the buyers are looking for now? Clients always ask me this question, especially when they think of remodeling. You may be surprised by the answers.Did you ever hear of a Snoring Room? Here is a quick look at the IN things for the home of today.

Snoring Rooms

Yes – you heard it right –snoring room is the new IN amenity in home building and remodeling. The purpose of the room is to counteract marital discord associated with being banished to the living room couch. The snoring room is about 12 ft X 12ft and is adjacent to the master bedroom – so no banishment required. It is well insulated and has a comfortable double bed. Of course, it can be used for other similar purposes.

Forget the gym in your basement. We are talking about a new age, spa-like environment for stress relief. This is a room is for meditation, yoga, and stress relieving exercise. It can have a stem shower and other amenities you want to enhance relaxation and rejuvenation.

Heated Driveways/Walkways/ Patios

No more winter exercise with a shovel in hand listening to the warnings of how bad it is to their backs and hearts. People want these spaces heated, their backs protected and their energy used for exercising in the rejuvenation room.

These trends are outlined in Mark Nash book “Real Estate A-Z for buying & selling a home”. It does not say these trends are for baby boomers - I am just extrapolating based on my personal experience. Ah, a Snoring Room – what could be more romantic? Tss…I better keep this a secret for now – I am getting one for my husband’s birthday.
