Did you know that Laurel, MD houses the world's largest ice cream faciltiy? or I should say ice cream campus because it covers more than 14 football fields of real estate.
Howard county agreed to defer $1 million in property taxes for four years and invested $1 million in road access and infrastructure improvements. The State of Maryland ponied up by granting $1.6 million if Dreyer's employed 515 hourly workers by Dec. 2007 as well as invested $183 million in the plant. They have exceeded that target with 725 and are looking 240 additional workers.
Dreyer's built the plant with expansion in mind if needed. They plan to invest an additional $30 million into the facility this year.
Needless to say, Howard County loves Edy's and so do you! KEEP EATING ICE CREAM you hear!
Howard County is Business friendly!

Wow, Interesting, I never knew that! When I think of Laurel I always think of the old main street laurel area and Prince Georges County.
I keep forgeting that Laurel is spread out over 3 or 4 counties P.G., Anne Arundel and Howard, That has always boggled my mind.
Debbie -- we have something in common, I coached football at Springbrook HS for a few years in the 90's. Yeah, Laurel is in a bit of Montgomery county too.
We should connect in the near future -- maybe after I complete my fast.
Aziz, this is such an excellent local piece. Kudos to you. Good job.
Chris --Thank you --now lets have some tea instead of coffee from the Bad A** place
How far are your from Vero Beach?
