Description is Misleading

Description is Misleading by Bill Roberts

I've been thinking "just exactly what is ActiveRain?"

Trying to describe AR is like the parable of the three (or is it six?) blind men trying to describe an elephant.

The parable of the blind men trying to describe an elephant is variously ascribed to Chinese or Indian folklore. But no matter, the essence of the story is the same. These blind men thought they could describe an elephant by "feeling" it with their hands. The one who grabbed the tail was sure the beast was like a rope. The one who wrapped his arms around a thick leg was sure that it was very similar to a tree. The one who touched the trunk concluded that the animal was a snake.

I joined AR because I wanted Search Engine Results Page (SERP) improvement. I got that almost immediately. I was shocked, then pleased, and now satisfied. My AR experience paid off.

But I'm still here, and still participating. And I'm still trying to figure out what ActiveRain is all about. Here is some of what I have discovered:

It is about blogging for SERPs.

It is a vast resource of "How to" information about blogging and SEO.

It is a vast resource of real estate related and other-wise hard-to-find information.

It is a network of real estate professionals I can use to get and give referrals.

It is a place I can research real estate related issues and ask for help.

It is a source of limitless entertainment.

And it is a social network of people with common interests.

So please don't ask me how to describe this "elephant" because I wouldn't know where to start. I just know that I'm addicted to ActiveRain and I don't want to see it change or go away. There are things that could be "improved" and I'm sure that the owners are working on that. One area of improvement that I would like to see is better communication from and with the owners on what they want and expect of AR. Is that too much to ask?
