Its finally the day we all look forward to and prepare for all year long. For the archery hunter October 1 is a magical date. The first day of Iowa Archery Whitetail Deer season was today. Archery season begins on October 1st each year. Hopefully you have all the necessary preparations completed and its all business from here on out. A few notes and online resources about Iowa deer hunting season this year that are worth mentioning.
2007 / 2008 Iowa Hunting Regulations
- Licenses can be purchased at many retailers or online through the Iowa DNR online licensing system
- Hunter Safety Course is required in Iowa.
- You can check the statusof your non resident license purchase online
- Remember the new Harvest Reporting System requires you report your deer kill immediately.
- Limited quota licensescan be checked daily online on the DNR Website
- Big Box hunting retailers in Western Iowa Bass Pro Shop (Council Bluffs, IA) and Cabelas (LaVista, NE)
- Iowa Ortho maps and geographic map server is a great resource for hunters
- Iowa DNR has interactive mappingon their website for your reseach as well.
- Great Iowa deer hunting forums online at Iowa Outdoors and Iowa Deer
- Hunters Willing to Helpis a program to volunteer to help landowners remove excssive deer from their land. You can sign up on the DNR website to help landowners need help.
