Camping at Big Lagoon State Park

It was a crisp couple of days when my friend and I put up our tent to enjoy the beauty of Nature. I know what some of you must be thinking. (Dianne in a tent?) Yes, that is correct! Sometimes you just have to get back to nature to find what you have been missing or just to collect your thoughts on life. You will not find a better place to do that than at Big Lagoon.

There are beautiful Nature trails where you can see animal and plant life. I was strolling across one nature trail and low and behold over in the water was the fabulous alligator. I noticed that he wasn't moving but staring up at all of us looking down at him. I guess we were the animals that were amusing him.

Sitting by the campsite fire on that cool night brought back memories of an earlier time. Life seemed simple back in the days or so I thought. There is nothing like sitting around the fire with its radiant beauty to end the day of all the natural beaNature trails - Pensacola Florida Real EstateBig Lagoon - Pensacola Florida Real Estateuty that I have beheld.

Dianne, my idea of camping involves room service and a nice soft bed, preferably close enough to the dinning room so that I can be awaken by the smell of the bacon :)

Dianne, I don't normally think of myself as a camper but this place is absolutely beautiful!  I would love to be surrounded by just nature for a few days, I'm glad you had a good time (and the photos are wonderful!)

I'd go for a visit...I get homesick even going to a hotel overnight. But I sure enjoyed your camping trip and pictures!

Hey Dianne, your friend over here in Texas. Ceil and I are big into camping. We use to tent camp years ago but now have a fifth wheel that we drag around. When we retire (when that ever happens) we want to visit light houses and take pictures of court houses in small towns. I figure that should take us a few years.

Thanks for the great photographs. How are you coming along with growing your tomatoes?

Dianne,

Looks like a nice place to take the family for a barbecue or picnic. The lake looks like it would be an awesome place to go boating.

Dianne - Looks nice. I lived in Pensacola for about 6 years or so but don't recall ever being there.

Barbara-Jo and Bill:  Thank you for commenting.

George:  You are too funny..........That was my idea before I actually did it.  It was just awesome being there.  The people that know me couldn't believe that I did it.

Carole:  Yes, it was wonderful being out in the open with nature.  Well, to be honest I think I could only do it for a couple of days each time.  I am a city girl.  Around 2 in the morning I heard a noise and was scared to death!!  It was a raccoon.

Sally:  Hi, I am glad that you enjoyed reading about my camping adventure.  I don't get homesick because I have really never experienced the home I am suppose to be in. I am like a rose that has given almost all of her soil away to others.  I just had an enlightenment...........I am now going to plant the rose into solid ground and nurture the rose so she will not die, but live an abundant life.

Gary:  Where about in Pensacola did you live?  Big Lagoon is off of Gulf Beach Highway....not too far from the naval station.

Carl:  Gosh, I had such a wonderful time.  Yea, probably would have been better in a real camper.  If you get this way, you need to stop and visit Big Lagoon.  Tomatos?  You know me.............didn't work out this time.  I will try again next year.

Neal:  This is just a fantastic place to take the family.  In fact, this halloween the park is doing a Halloween party.  Plenty of fishing, boating, nature trails, swimming and playground.

Beautiful pics, Dianne !  It looks like you had a nice getaway ...camping is so enjoyable. I love sitting by the campfire in the evenings and cooking on an open fire in the morning.

I don't know about alligators though...I think I would be terrified! They swim where there are alligators?

Jo-Anne:  Thank you... I loved sitting by the fire.  Hey, I don't know about alligators either.  I was not in the water......

Hi Dianne,
This is a lovely area, great post for your locals.

Cynthia:  Thank you for stopping by.  It is indeed a lovely area.  I am not much of a camper, but I can't wait to go back.
