When I was a little girl my father put me on the back of a motorcycle with him. Before he could tell me be careful and don't touch the exhau
st pipe...I had already burnt my leg. My first encounter with a motorcycle.
While attending college in Broward County, I rode on the back of my best friends motorcycle but one day we came close to death when a gentleman tapped the back of the motorcycle.
Neither one of us got hurt but that was the end of my biker babe days!
Yesterday as I traveled North on A1A to get to our Ormond by the Sea location. They were back...the bikers...it made me smile. Smile for many reasons.
My drive time seemed to be longer, not because traffic is bad but because I was enjoying the sights. You can feel the excitement in the air as vendors are set up all over the street.
Motorcycles everywhere and our city once again has life... so many activities...our town so alive!
Many people in Daytona Beach ride, I am not one of them. While I am no biker babe I do love Daytona Beach!
The natural beauty is incredible, we actually have beaches that are simply beaches...areas without concrete and still much natural wildlife.
Beautiful birds, plenty of squirrels and possums...deer...turtles..let's not forget the manatee's and the dolphins...Such a beautiful sight!
In Daytona Beach we still have vacant land, that's right we aren't built out or even close.
The lifestyle here is different, its a little more casual, a bit more relaxed...the beauty of small town.
Let me share with you some interesting facts about the Daytona Beach area...
Yes we have baseball The Daytona Cubs, Class-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, you can watch them play at the ball field which is located in City Island in downtow
n Daytona Beach.
In the Daytona Beach area, we have some of the freshest seafood, fish from the river and the ocean, we have clamming, crabbing and fishing and shrimping.
All great eating. My personal favorite is clamming and fishing running a close second.
The Daytona Beach International Speedway is known as the World Center for Racing.
The Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory is located in downtown Daytona Beach...if you like chocolate you'll love Angell and Phelps. Take a tour...enjoy some chocolate.
In Daytona Beach, our Flea and Farmer's Market cover over 40 acres of land, a wide variety of vendors and many many bargains.
Sugar Mill Gardens is located in Port Orange, Florida 1 city south of Daytona Beach. Enjoy the old English sugar mill, with 12 acres of botanical gardens...really breathtaking.I got married there...just beautiful..something to see.
Tomoka State park is located just north of Ormond Beach, Florida. 400 years ago the Timucua Indians inhabited the area.
Tomoka State Park offers fishing, hiking, camping and boating.
Don't want to travel north..plenty of parks and wildlife areas are throughout Volusia County.
Ormond Beach is one city north of Daytona Beach and is the headquarters for the Hawaiian Tropic Plant.
The Hawaiian Tropic Plant employs 2,000 people world wide and the plant covers over 306,500 square feet. Now that is a lot of suntan lotion.
These are just a few things I love about Daytona Beach, while I am no biker babe...I sure am happy to make my home here. If you are interested in buying or selling real estate in Volusia County please contact Midori Miller of Century 21 Sundance Realty. Let us help you make Daytona Beach Florida your home!

Daytona Beach is a fun place to hang out!
One of my agents in our office refers to motorcyclists as "organ donors"..
Hi Nidori,
I love florida and planning on moving there eventually, and when I do I will be visiting Daytona Beach.
Midori, I have fond memories of my senior year of college trip to Daytona Beach for Spring Break. It just happened to be Bike Week as well. That was an interesting mix. 50,000 partying college kids and probably 100,000 bikers and biker babes. A fun time... what I can remember!
Midori, Great pics! I used to ride a small bike back in college (250cc). After college I rode my friends 1000cc bike and almost lost it. That was the end of my days as well. Now I just look at them and admire the way the look
Midori,
I believe Daytona is where the Hawaiian tropic Girls are :0)
He! He!
Tom Weiss
Very nice...as I told you on the phone...I wish I could go and experience that....
Go ahead...rub it in....
I do ride....but have not made it to Florida on the scoot. With a new son, riding has taken a back seat lately.
Thanks for the pictures and have a great time!

Midori - I didn't even relize that the Cubs had a farm team in Daytona. Besides going down for the Nascar races I might have to check out the Daytona Cubs.
Hi Eric-Yes, Daytona Beach is fun...I love it here! Now motorcyclist are not required to wear helmets...makes me nervous!
Anthony-Daytona Beach is beautiful...I really appreciate it's natural beauty, historical sites and all the fun places we have. Florida is a great place to live!
Brian-I bet you have some fond memories...spring break and bike week! Major partying going on, huh? At least that is what you remembered! Famous last words of a Spring Breaker!
Matt-that is me, I love seeing women drive harley's...that to me is a WOMAN! I just prefer looking at them rather than ride them now! It's not that I fear for handling myself on a bike...it's the other drivers we have no control over. Every year we hear about how many people get killed or injured, I just assume not to be one of them. So if you ever get to Daytona we can always check out all the harley shops.
Tom-Yes there are beautiful women here, and yes Daytona is the home of Hawaiin Tropic and if you play your cards right....you may run into one of the girls!
Neal-Yes, I think you would be out of control during biketoberfest! You would have a blast! We are going to Orlando this weekend while the event is going on. We are going to a martial arts tournament.....
Amazing how the scenery changes come Bike Week. I can see you out there in the attire marketing condos with special bike parking!
Jeffery-so sorry you are going to miss it! Lysa took the day off so she can do her part for Biketoberfest. I am sure she will be posting like crazy when she recovers.
Robert-Yes every night is a special night...sometime its all the beer and hotdogs you can stand, Free t-shirt night....its a lot of fun.
Gary-you are so funny! I am going to Orlando this weekend. It's fun to be a spectator but I am going to a martial arts tournament with my hubby. It should be fun!
Midori,
I am not a great Card Player :0) I may have to check it out from a distance..
Take Care Midori,
Tom Weiss
Midori ,I had the identical experience as you. At age 4, Uncle Buck took me for a ride on his Indian Motorcycle, and I also got a leg burn. It made me gunshy for awhile, but I got over it, and have been riding most of my life. Daytona is a great place to ride.
David
I like your title! I had no idea your Hawaiian Tropic suntan stuff is right there! Thanks for a grand look into the places of interest in Daytona Beach!
Hi David-believe it or not while coming back from my Education Committee meeting, driving along Williamson heading towards Beville there was a motorcycle in front of me and he was going to fast and slid down the road. While he got up and tried to gather the pieces of his motorcycle, you can tell that he was dissoriented. I pulled over along with 2 other people and waited until the paramedics came! I prayed as I was driving...I hope all these bikers make it safe this biketoberfest.
Hi Sally-not as exotic as Hawaii but I do love it here! Thanks for stopping by.....i
I remember being in Daytona once as a kid during Bike Week - it was a real experience -
Midori, my husband is a biker wanna-be and has always wanted a Harley Davidson to ride to South Dakota(the badlands thing, etc). He has his motorcycle license and tons of Harley logo t-shirts, mugs, clocks, etc., but that's as much motorcycle as he's gonna get until the kids are over 18. I'm a bit overprotective. Anyway, Daytona sounds like my kind of place! All those activities and attractions . . . plus the chocolate factory puts it right over the top!
Barbara Jo and Bill-Yes my first bike week was shocking to me...just 4 years ago! I thought it was so incredible that all of these people have 1 main thing in common the love of their bikes.
Sharon-The chocolate factory...to die for! Did he see Wild Hogs? I thought it was an awesome movie!
This is our West Coast version of the Daytona. (My biker babes)
I Love when Biketoberfest begins and I Love when it ends. Daytona Beach is a great place, with great events, universities and a diverse ethnic population. We're staying.
Sharon-red hot! Do they ride it themselves? Is that designed for kids...very cool. You have to tell me more. Your kids are so cute! My kids had their alf 3 wheeler and the transformer big wheel. Those were the days... Now they ride scooters and their cars..
Lori-yes, I have to agree...the excitement....I love it....when it's over....I love it! We can get back to everyday life.
Hey Tom-if you go to their website they have some hotties there!
Hey Midori! I was able to get away from the business long enough to enjoy your beautiful city on Saturday. I always find time for Biketoberfest and Bikeweek. It's great for people watching. It almost makes you feel like you're in Los Angeles with so many "unique" people all in one place. LOL
Hi Chris-I wondered where you have been? In my neck of the woods and I was supposed to be in your neck of the woods but had a very challenging weekend...but I survived it...I have this weekend to look forward too! It is crazy here, meaning...the people,...the number of people and all partying and enjoying themselves. Glad you enjoyed it.
Midori, This was a great post! I'm so sorry I missed it during the event! Good Job girl! You're almost one of us! :)
You haven't been cole slaw wrestling, have you??????
Hi Jeff....I'll never tell! What happens in Daytona stays in Daytona....
