TESTING... AGENT 3000 REPORTING FOR DUTY

Today is the first official posting to my real estate blog, and I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life! I look forward to sharing with you all of my experiences in Washington, DC, and in the Washington, DC, real estate market. You will hear a frank and fresh perspective, and I aim to especially target Generations X and Y who are ever more becoming a bigger and bigger influence in the real estate market. These consumers are young, smart, educated, and tech savvy. They are hitting the real estate market with more buying power and information than their Baby Boomer counter-parts did, and they demand instant gratification. As a member of these generations, I get it, and starting this blog is one of the ways I plan to deliver that information and gratification we crave.

To share a little bit about my background, I am 24 years old and recently broke into the real estate market. I have been doing this for about a year now while simultaneously running a bookkeeping business. I am married to a wonderful man, Scott, and we have been married for about 2 1/2 years now. Just this week, I was able to completely focus my efforts full time into being an agent, though I still do a bit of bookkeeping in the evenings. As you can probably tell, my degree is in accounting from University of South Florida. Go Bulls!!! Speaking of the Bulls, can you believe how well the football team is doing? We are number four in the Big East and are 6-1! That is something I never expected. We are one of the largest public schools, but have not been known for our athletics until now. So proud. I also spent some time attending UF, so I am a big Gators fan as well. I was born in Washington, DC, which makes me one of the few native Washingtonians. I have lived most of my life in Tampa, Florida, though, but also spent some time in Waldorf, MD, and Asheville, NC (which is one of my favorite places on the planet). Hubby and I moved to Washington, DC, in October of 2006, and we absolutely adore it. The atmosphere of this city is unlike any other. We live in modern-day Rome. The excitement of the politics and actually living in the capital of the free world puts an electricity in the air. There is a TON to do and see here, and we will talk more about that throughout this blog.

The purpose of the blog is to focus on Washington, DC, real estate, but will also encompass Washington, DC, as a city and the culture here as well. I think in order to have a real perspective on the local real estate, you have to understand and embrace the culture and flavor of each of the many DC neighborhoods. They are all unique in their own right, and all have their own special atmosphere. That is one of my favorite things about DC - it is such a melting pot of people, ideas, languages, religions... it really broadens your perspective on life as a whole.

So, I am really looking forward to talking to you regularly, and I hope that you enjoy this! And be sure to check out my website at http://www.walkerhomes.lnfre.com/ for more information or to contact me.
