211 is becoming a country wide number to call for any Health, Social & Welfare issues and is coming to the SF Bay area starting Nov 5th.  211 is a resource for anyone needing to get help with social/welfare services and health issues.  You never know which agency to call in what county.  Ever get crossed eyed looking for the right agency to call from the phone book or Internet?  One number does it all.  What if you have a question about child care or care for a parent, any health and social welfare questions,  you think your child is on drugs, you lost your Job and need food for your family, just call 211.  With 24HR access, 150 languages and one number to call "211", get the answers you need and get to the right office!  

United Way is one of the organizations spearheading this transformation across the country.  In addition this 211 will serve as resource for  providing information in the wake of a disaster. Currently in 41 states and spreading further this is a number to remember..211!
