We have a comic hanging beside oue copy machine that I giggle about every time I read it. It says "Why are elections held in November?" The answer shown below the graphic says "Its the best month to pick out a Turkey!"
I spent 17 years working for the government and I'm going to agree that really is true. I had the chance to work with some great elected officials. Unfortunately I also worked for some real bozo's that had no idea what they were doing, or only ran for election because they had an axe to grind and could have cared less for the greater good of everybody as long as they found their satisfaction or revenge against the object of their anger.
I hope you've spent some time getting to know the candidates in your area and that you get out and vote today. An election year like this year that doesn't have much on the ballot but local elections here in Iowa will be a small turn out. In fact the absence of election signs in the area even lends to the non event feeling. Many city council and mayoral positions are open this year, and these tend to be the positions that affect you much more than the state and federal offices, at least on a local level. These are the persons that will provide the public safety for your children, fire protection, infrastructure maintenance, set local tax levels and make decisions on new infrastructure in your community. This is your chance to choose who gets to make those decisions.
Unfortunately this is the year likely to bring a few of the ding bats to office with few voters, other than their friends. Lets all make it a point to go vote and vote as an informed citizen and do what is good for your community.

Great Posting Jason,
I hope your posting gets the attention of all those people that generally sit on the fence about voting.
Thanks
Jason, I love that joke!
