Light Up Blue Ridge has become a mountain tradition which kicks off the Christmas season.  Relive the small town celebrations of the past and let the Christmas spirit fill your mind and heart with a fun-filled day of Christmas excitement in downtown Blue Ridge.  Great family fun for all.

         

Saturday, November 24, downtown Blue Ridge  will jump into full swing with Christmas entertainment, shopping, carriage rides and getting around town will be easy with the trackless train.  Local restaurants and food vendors will be ready to serve visitors with their unique mountain cuisine.  Treat yourself to a fried apple pie and fresh cider from the famous Mercier Orchards.

Friday, November 23  Appalachian Community Bank

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Santa's Workshop  where children can have their picture made with Santa (free).  There will be caroling, refreshments and a chocolate fountain.  Call 706-258-4000 for more information.

11:00 a.m.

Christmas Celebration Begins

11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Christmas entertainment on three different stages
            Main stage in city park
            Hampton Square on Mountain Street
            Fieldstone Village on East Main Street

12:45 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive aboard the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
Santa will be delighted to have free photos made with the children.  Also, Frosty, Rudolph, the Gingerbread Man and Santa's Elves will be on hand.  Live reindeer are being added for the children to pet.

4:30-5:30 p.m.

Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad will host a Train Car Open House (free)

6:00 p.m.

Father Christmas arrives by sleigh pulled by a team of Clydesdales followed by the United Methodist Church carolers down East Main Street for the lighting of the Great Tree

6:30 p.m.

Lighting of the Great Tree
The Great Tree is provided by Appalachian Community Bank and is a 24 foot tall Douglas Fir adorned with more than 12,000 lights

Entertainment will include:
Blue Ridge Community Theater Jingles
Blue Ridge Dulcimers
Bobby Don Bloodworth and the Gopher Broker Bank
Emily Carey
Caroling:         Barbara Cheatham, Beth Simonds, Joy Still, Maxine Wood, Fannin County Highschool Chorus,
                       First Baptist Epworth Choir, McElvis and much more.                 

Light Up Blue Ridge sponsored by the Blue Ridge Association.  Proceeds benefit Fannin County Empty Stocking Fund and Open Arms Children's Shelter.  Drop off a new, unwrapped toy at Santa's Workshop.
