On Saturday night my husband and I drove up to Germantown to try the new Indian restaurant. The setting was not like the typical Indian restaurant ambiance, it was more casual, which fit right in with the area. As the sign clearly stated, it was an Indian America restaurant and deli. I ordered the Shrimp Biryani which was a rice dish skillfully infused with various herbs and spices and I must say it was excellent.
The owners Paul and Henrietta D'Souza informed me that the grand opening would be on Monday at which time they would be giving away free meals served buffet style. I stopped by to see how it was going and based on the comments I overheard everyone thought the food was excellent. This restaurant will be an asset to the area by introducing a new cuisine and will provide the many vegetarians in the area with even more variety.
The menu offers tandoori, rice, vegetarian and other entrees and is rather reasonably priced. So, if you find yourself travelling north to Hudson or south to Red Hook be sure to check out this little treasure.

Sounds yummy Jennifer!
Jennifer, I have only tried Indian Food a couple of times. I like it, but it does not like my stomach, but it is good :)
Jennifer, it sounds like a nice restaurant to add to your community. Free food for their grand opening sounds good also.
My wife and I love Indian food. I must sample the Chicken and Beef Vindaloo to see if they pass my taste test. Thanks for the info.
Hi Jennifer,
I know your community will welcome this new restaurant with open arms (or mouths!). These owners are very smart to offer free lunch at their grand opening, will get lots of customers I bet.
Jennifer, what is your favorite dish? I haven't tried Indian food in years, but if there's a buffet...I'm there. Smart marketing on their part.
We do love Indian cuisine. I'm sure we'll be trying this place soon.
Jennifer, I hope they have a good turnout for the grand opening. I haven't had Indian food in years either and I remember it was spicy but excellent. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
