From Suburban to Cross Over: Anyone else making the conversion?

Even though the price per gallon is creeping up to 2.89, I don't flinch as much as I used to when I have to fill up my gas tank. Why?

I did it, I couldn't take it anymore! I sold my Suburban. This new desire hit me one day and that desire was Cross Over. Yes, I've converted from the gas guzzler with a 40 gallon tank to the Ford Freestyle. I can still carpool with the same amount of kids and with a built in DVD player, long trips are becoming peaceful.

I may miss my four wheel drive come winter, but I managed for years with front wheel drive, and I will again.

There is one thing I didn't take into consideration when I went with my gut instinct. That would be a yellow lab named Jessie. With the kids and husband, I'm not sure how the dog will fit in the car on the way to grandmas for Thanksgiving. My husband said he can stay home!

$2.89 - I just filled up at $3.21! It always amazes me at the different prices. Have fun with your new car :)

Wait, are you leaving the dog or the husband home?  Decisions, decisions......

Jennifer - Our gas here is running between $3.09 and $3.21/gallon. If I found it at $2.89 I would think I found a bargain!  LOL

I drive a Durango, and while it's not the most economical, it's certainly not as hard on the gas mileage as some.

Jennifer,  Looking for a Geo Metro.  Let me know if you locate one.  Can't give up my Van yet for the kids, but my husband needs to downsize.

Jennifer, I have not made the switch yet, but it has crossed my mind. I bought my wife a mini van about a year ago and the gas is crazy compared to what we had. It sure makes me rethink my decision.

Jennifer, the Crossover market is hot with the automobile manufacturers. I think they could do better with the larger SUVs with the MPG. They just have to make them lighter. The Lincoln Navigator is something like 5,000 lb. Way too heavy. Good luck with the new vehicle and leaving either the dog or the husband home.

Marlene and Gary:  Much to my surprise, when the 50/50 split back seat is folded, our dog and our 7 year old fit in the third seat.  What didn't fit were some of the presents I bought the day after Thanksgiving.  But, worked out well!

April:  Seriously?  A Metro?  I'll keep my eyes out:)
