Sunshine and Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort Opening Day!

Here we go! Another Ski season about to start. www.bigmtn.com is the place to go for web cams, tickets, conditions and anything else you might like to know.

Some recent council decisions in Whitefish are interesting. There has been a resolution to only allow nightly rentals of residential properties (less than 30 days long) in areas of Whitefish where the zoning allows. This will hamper many owners on the lake as well as in town who historically have been renting out their property as nightly rentals. I will let you know if any lawsuits come of this somewhat radical action that came about as a result of neighbors complaining to the city that in a few instances, their peace and enjoyment of their homes was compromised by vacationers. Whitefish is moving ahead with a new parking garage. This will help greatly with the seasonal crunches downtown where there is literally no place to park.

Many concerts, plays, ballets, to choose from at this exciting time of year! First Night Flathead which takes place New Year's eve in Kalispell is looking very promising. This is an alcohol free evening with many galleries and stores welcoming bands and other musicians. It is always pleasant to stroll around town and pop in to hear music and run into friends. 1st Ave East and 2 side streets will be closed for food vendors and sleigh rides - just need some snow to make it very picturesque!
