The Whales Are Back In Town!Last summer I wrote about Florida's Other Snow-Bird~The Northern Atlantic Right Whales... I told you about how they come visit us for 2 to 3 months in the winter season, have their babies then head back to Nova Scotia. I gave you backgroud information on why they are so endangered and what is being done to try to bring their numbers back. I also told you about the volunteers here in Flagler and Volusia Counties that do nothing but watch for these wonderous creatures 7 days a week. Yesterday I got my first Northeren Atlantic Right Whale Sighting email of the season, I was so excited! We had a mother and calf between St. Augustine and the Matanzas Inlet. During the day they are staying about 200 yds offshore, and believe me, they are not hard to spot, unless the seas are grey and it's cloudy which is not the weather we are having right now.
If you do happen to see any of these amazing creatures and don't see the Marineland team please call them to let the team to let them know about the whales at 888-979-4253
