$100 down payment program for a HUD home in Michigan

In Michigan and Ohio you can now purchase a home from HUD with a $100 down
payment if you finance the home with an FHA mortgage.

You can also receive $2500 from HUD to be used towards your closing costs.

This is a fabulous program! I can't imagine what it would be like be able to access such an opportunity. We are just starting to roll back to prices that actually qualify for FHA in these parts.

Michael: HUD and FHA worked together to make this program available for Michigan and Ohio. I think it was because of the high incidences of economic foreclosures and saturation of HUD homes in our market area. I agree though, it would be nice if this program was put in place country wide.

Chris: As I told Sarah, word is slowly getting out about this program. I don't know why it hasn't been publicized more wide spread. I'm glad to hear prices are finally in line in your area where an FHA mortgage is possible for home buyers. Let me know if you start seeing more of them being utilized.

Kris.... this is great and I read the article that you wrote talking more about this program. You wonder why HUD doesn't allow this in every state, and just why MI and OH. But if my common sense serves me correct, I would bet because they are targeting higher HUD foreclosed areas. I guess Florida and a few other places would be next. This is my .02, because I am curious about this. thanks

Jeff: I think the reason it was introduced to Michigan and Ohio is simply the higher saturation of HUD homes for sale and the fact that most of the foreclosures in our area are economically based. This program serves 2 purposes: To sell some of the HUD homes and to help home buyers with an affordable mortgage plan. I really like it but wish it had been publicized more (where's the media for this one???)

Linda: I am anxious to get the word out on this and to help buyers with it. I think it's wonderful for them.

Carole: I hope the phone rings for all agents in our area regarding this program. That would mean that word was getting out about it, instead of it being something consumers have to find out about on their own by visiting HUDS website.

Lola: I agree, it is an awesome program for home buyers. I hope you'll have people contacting you about it soon.

Maggie: I tell ya, if we don't follow up ourselves on these things we would be in the dark. It was surprising to me how many agents in our area didn't have a clue about this.
