I spent two hours today cleaning house, but it wasn’t mineThe house wasn't filthy, but several months on the market hadn't been kind. The contractors performing the minor repairs didn't exactly leave the place spotless. The disappointed look during the final walk-through said it all. They have a long day ahead of them, trying to completely move in all in one day. My buyers have exactly one day to move in as their apartment will be available for rent Tuesday. He's a Firefighter/Paramedic with Capital City Fire/Rescue. We'd timed the closing so he'd have two full days off to move. His wife recently had breast cancer surgery. (She's doing fine, and I thank her for insisting I get my mammogram a few weeks ago - it was clean). The relocation company didn't cooperate and we closed a little late. No big surprise. After all, they didn't want to clean the place because they were told it was clean when the house was listed during the summer. They did, thankfully, take care of all repairs which were really minor. It's a good, solid house that gave a few good surprises I may blog about someday. Winter came late to Southeast Alaska and we've only had 6-8 inches of snow so far. Most of it fell Friday night and Saturday. Since the buyers signed Friday and the transaction records Monday, I knew the listing agent wasn't going to be able to get a snowplow.
It feels good to do something nice for great people.
