A proud tradition played out in Iowa today and finally, the phone calls will stop! As much as I grump about them I know they spent $30,000,000 in Iowa which is a great thing for us. The attention never hurts our great state either. No big political analysis here but the numbers if you have not seen them yet.
As of this writing the numbers sit at
Democrats
Obama 38%
Edwards 30%
Clinton 29%
Richardson 2%
Dodd and Biden have abandoned their campaigns after their poor showing today
Republicans
Huckabee 34%
Romney 25%
Thompson 13%
McCain 13%

The race is on
The whistle has been blown and the race is on. Interesting to watch.
Yes the race is on and they are speeding out of Iowa now headed your way!
I love watching politics - did you participate?
I did not participate, unless watching the internet and channel 7 counts? It was more popular than ever to participate this year, there were many people that had never been at a Caucus before. I didn't see anything that really excited me in any of the candidates so I opted to watch from the comfort of my recliner tonight.
Hey Jason,
Yes I did participate, as you know. I was a Precinct Co-Captain for Sen. Barack Obama and despite what Hillary says, he'll be ready to lead, on day one.
I does has aspects of being a lot like a horse race, and in this case, my "horse" has pulled up right along side of the gal who is married to a past President and it doesn't seem to scare him a bit. He's even got Bob Johnson apologizing to him here as of late.
I just heard today that in Nevada, the Obama Campaign may do a little better because the attempt by Hillary - i.e. the Clintons -- to disenfranchise the 9 at-large caucuses that were to be held in the big casinos will be allowed to go on. I don't have all the details, but what a crock! I can't believe that Bill Clinton -- he's gotten to be real nasty with his politics and will do just about anything to win.
Anyhow, I'd better get back to work. I've finally started to see a little more action and I don't want it to slow up! Incidentally, Hillary wasn't even viable in the first round at our caucus, of 444 in DSM #49. I had a lot more fun this year because I was supporting Obama and the final tally for our precinct was 4-2-2-2. Shame I couldn't convince those Richardson folks to just give it up. They were very committed to their guy, however, and when you've been "in love" with your favorite horse for several months, it's kind of tough to let go in an hour.
But I'm with you, we need to keep Iowa the "First-in-the-nation" for a caucus. I went to at least 15 Obama events, and shook his hand at least 7 times. Was in the news a few times and made some of the print media, too. All kinds of good things happen to you when you hang around a great candidate like Barack Obama!
BTW, I've read "The Audacity of Hope" and am reading "Dreams of My Father" now -- great books.
