Alaskans, please call GCI for Northwest Cable News!It seems GCI was unable to come to an agreement with Northwest Cable News they discontinued airing it in Alaska as of January 1. This is not acceptable to their paying customers! Therefore, I urge everyone to send an email like the following one:
rhodgson@gci.com Ms. Hodgson - I would like to express my disappointment at losing channel 72. I had no idea this was going to happen until I tried to watch the news and see how the clean up was going for flooding in Pe Ell where my uncle lives. I thought something was wrong with the cable, but since I have kids home from college for winter break I haven't had much choice of what's on TV anyway. Then I got an email from a friend telling me about it as well. Like many people in Southeast Alaska, I rely on this channel to give me news about the areas my family live which is all over Washington state and one in Montana. I don't have time to scour the internet for news on these areas, and this is one of the main reasons I have cable with GCI. Almost every time I talk with my mother, who lives in Spokane, she will mention something I should watch for on the news - meaning channel 72. Alaska and Juneau in particular, have strong ties to the Pacific NW. I am a licensed real estate salesperson and with the exception of Coast Guard, over 50% of the people moving into Juneau are from the PNW. If you look at an Alaska Airlines timetable book you will see that they also have a heavy presence throughout the PNW because that's where the demand says they should fly. By the way, over 70% of the people leaving Alaska stay in the PNW. For example, Sequim Washington, a town of only 6,100 has over 500 people from Juneau and over 1,000 from Southeast! Almost everyone I know has friends or family in the PNW so I think eliminating this channel is a big mistake! Please don't give my husband an excuse to get satellite TV.
NOTE: I wanted to put their logo with the big red circle and line through it but didn't know how. |
