Following your favorite local team, basketball or hockey in the winter in Aroostook County, Maine. No matter the weather, no matter the distance, hoot, holler and follow your team. My job to capture it on youth hockey videos...like this latest varsity Maine hockey game with Houlton Hodgdon Blackhawks in Augusta's Kennebec Ice Arena with Win Dale losing 9-1! How local folks in Maine keep track of their teams place in the standings? By visiting the Maine Principal Associations Heal Points website. This site is usually updated on Tuesdays so youth basketball and hockey players from around Maine study the statistics for bragging rights. Boys and girls, no matter the class that is determined by the school enrollment numbers. These games are in between plowing snow in Aroostook County. This season we got lots of white stuff early, but
warm temperatures, a little rain and fog and wind helps remove it quickly. Many Mainers bought new snowmobiles, snow blowers and snow plows figuring this is the type of winter ahead. Today is crystal clear blue sky and sunshine with not that much snow ground cover with prediction of a little storm tonight. How do we handle the snow when we have it? The right equipment and practice. In town the snow flurries, visibility and blowing snow are not as diminished as in the open country where drifting and snow banks here and bare spots there can be the norm. Regardless, if the calendar says winter, Mainers figure lets have some snow to take part in all the outdoor recreational activities it allows. These images were taken on the family farm on US Rt 2 west of Houlton Maine during our last storm. Now all that snow is gone for the most part thanks to a tropical breeze pushing its way northeasterly on its way to the Atlantic Canadian provinces and then out to sea.

Andrew, these photos are just beautiful! I've spent time in Maine during August when it's really hot in DC, and only imagined what it would be like in the winter. Now I'm thinking a little snow would be fun!
Winter snow is fun, no black flies. Just got my son back on the plane to washington dc to get back into the spring semester at GW...gonna miss him. Take care of him on that end okay? Thanks for checking in!
That first picture is great. I don't like the snow but it can be awful pretty.
