We have a new coffee shop in Paia Maui, and it's right next door to our friendly Jim Sanders Realty office, on the Hana Highway. The Morning Glories Internet Cafe serves organic coffee and homemade wheat free pastries, as well as organic chocolates made from Brazilian sustainable cocoa. The husband and wife team of Stuart and Elizabeth are behind the counter making espressos and lattes from 7 am until 5:30 pm.

It's also an internet cafe, with 8 computers available by the minute, at 10 cents per minute. The computers are upstairs in their cozy loft, so you can have some privacy. Downstairs you can also log in with your own computer and be part of the scene. Also for sale are some interesting items such as bamboo fiber clothing, handmade glass vases and bowls, and a great selection of World Music CD's. They play some really great music from around the world, which you can purchase if you like.

Stuart was nice enough to show me some of the things that make them special - for instance, they don't use plain old sugar as a coffee sweetener, they use agave nectar! He let me taste it - it was sort of like honey but milder. Who knew? I always like to try new things, so that was a pleasant surprise. Some of the coffee drinks are spiced up with cayenne pepper, for a real punch! He tells me they buy their cocoa blocks from Brazil, and it's sustainably harvested.

The atmosphere is very inviting, with comfortable furnishings and wonderful coffee aromas. This used to be the LiveWire Cafe for years, and these new owners live right here in Paia. They have had some previous Paia retail experience and know what they're doing. They are really excited to be in this new location where they can serve their organic coffees and other goodies. I think they will do well. It was certainly busy when I dropped in to talk with them.

Oh yes, there's plenty of parking in back, with the first half hour for free. So come on by and see for yourself. Who needs Starbucks when you can have this?

I was here in September.  Hope to be back soon!

Troy - Glad you liked Paia - come on back anytime.

This looks like an amazing place. We need a shop like Morning Glories here in Durham. (Thanks for commenting on my post!)

Georgina...  Looks like a great place to "hang-out"...  I can't get enough coffee.

Another great localism post.

this looks like the kind of place I would love to hang out at!

Elizabeth - Thanks to you as well!

Debbie - I had to quit coffee -   I allready run in high gear without caffiene.

Barbara-Jo and Bill - I'm tempted to start drinking coffee again, and hang out there too!

Jack - You are indeed a lucky person then.  I'm glad you made it here!

Thanks for all your comments.

Georgina, I was there and had great pastries. In fact, there was a fellow playing jazz on the piano inside when I visited. Great place and good food.

Gena - I wonder if it was still the LiveWire when you were here - they were going through the transition right about then.  The new guys are really keen and I think they will do well.  They don't want to be open at night though.

This looks just like the kind of cafe I would love to visit - just my style! And organic coffee - awesome. People used to come to my cafe for the organic coffee and music - there is a common thread in places like this - different values.

Thanks for supporting the Hunger Site, Georgina - I am trying to click every day. Great to find your blog!

Hi Deborah - do you know Marlene Matkin in Kelowna?  Say HI to her!

No Sorry Georgina, I don't know Marlene, but how do you? Sounds like you get around? Or perhaps it's Marlene that gets around?

Deborah - I'm clicking that link every day!
