so far, one being the move I have made from one brokerage to another and also to a home office. With that move I have also been updating my Outlook (both Microsoft and life :) As I was adding all of the holidays into my Outlook calendar I came across some celebrations that I had never heard of before. One being that January is the National Month for Thank YOU. Instantly I thought, "hmmm…isn’t that something we do all of the time anyway"? Saying Thank YOU seems to me, to be such a simple gesture. We should be diligent in making sure we express our thanks to every person we come in contact with and there are so many ways to say Thank YOU, such as:
- The simplest form of Thank YOU is just saying it.
- Give a hug and say Thank YOU.
- Send a handwritten note to say Thank YOU.
- Send an email to say Thank YOU.
- Make a phone call to say Thank YOU.
- Give the person(s) a small gift to say Thank YOU. Such as flowers, candy, a basket of fruit, or movie tickets.
- Take the person(s) out to lunch and say Thank YOU.
- Send your mom or caregiver flowers on your birthday to say Thank YOU.
- Write a blog to say Thank YOU.
- Throw a party to say Thank YOU.
As real estate professionals, that should be one of our top priorities, to send out Thank YOU’s and we are given so many opportunities to do so. We should all have a goal to send out 5 Thank You’s every single day. If you are asking yourself “how in the world can I send out 5 per day”? Think of it as having your 5 fruits and vegetables per day:
| Why 5 Fruits and Veggies a Day? | Why 5 Thank YOU’s a Day? |
| They’re full of vitamins and minerals. Just what the Doctor ordered! | People are packed with a heart and soul which needs replenishing with a good dose of gratitude. |
| They help you to maintain a good healthy weight. | They can help you maintain a healthy balance in your pipeline through referrals and repeat business. |
| They are a great source of fiber and antioxidants. | Saying Thank YOU releases an excellent source of endorphins for your own heart and soul. It simply feels good.
|
| They decrease your risk of some cancers, heart disease, and stroke. | They help reduce the risk of being forgotten by those who go out of their way to provide great service, do special things for you and for the having trust in your expertise to look out for their best interests in a transaction. |
| They are absolutely delicious and there is such a large variety to choose from. | It feels good and there’s such a variety to choose from in how you want to say Thank YOU. |
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?" ~William A. Ward
The WHO should be easy. Your team! Every person involved in a real estate transaction: Clients, title, lender, inspector, home stager, your admin, agent on the other side, cleaner, electrician, landscaper, home warranty company, every single person you came into contact with during the transaction.
Outside of a real estate: God, your beautician, mechanic, doctor, dentist, grocery store clerk, waiter/waitress,caregiver, insurance agent, teachers, friends (including AR), and family. The list goes on and on.
Just a thought: A postcard will be held for approximately 3 seconds and a Thank YOU for a lifetime. So let's all keep filling up those Thank YOU buckets and pass them along.
To all of you who have in the past and still continue to support me in my writings and who share YOUR heart and knowledge I want to say from the bottom of my heart

THANK YOU for making this post! I always love your positive spirit! Hey, look at your cluster map. You have a vast audience, my dear! Congratulations on your big change. Best wishes for a great year!
THANK YOU for posting this! Saying it and meaning it are so very powerful!!!
Thank you for this Julie, one of my NY resolutions this year was to send cards/notes of appreciation and TY's out daily. I've already broken that but the end of the month is still lurking!
Thank You for reminding us how important it is to be grateful.
Julie- Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for all that you do on AR. Thank you for all you give of your heart and soul. I love your graphics, the thank you card was so beautiful. The graphics are so cute. The format and the chart were so clever! Katerina
Julie, what an awesome post! And a big heartfelt THANK YOU for being so supportive of everyone here. You have a way of making people feel special! :)
Julie, Thanks for such an inspiring post. Love your hearts.
Julie, What a great post. Very cute graphics and a very sweet post! Thank YOU!
Julie,
The fact is, a simply "Thank You" goes a long way! We all have this instinctive desire to want to feel appreciated. So yes, a simple thank you does in fact go a long way and it takes very little time to utter those words genuinely or send a post-card.
I started reading our post Julie and picked up my phone to call someone to say thank you. It was well received too. Thank to you Julie...more people will be inspired to do some thank you's right when or after they read this. You brighten up everyones days and nights. :)
Hi Julie - I enjoyed this post, but I don't want to take the obvious route here by thanking you for these great reminders. Oh, what the heck? Thank you for this!
Julie- I am not surprised that you have something so nice on here....and something so simple that we all could be doing to make life just a little nicer. Yep, I am not surprised.....very nice job, and as you said Thank You :)
THANK YOU, Julie for always be one of the people that works hard to lift the spirits of the community, and I'm sure everyone else that you come into contact with. You are a very special person.
Julie: Beautifully stated.. elegantly written... I've flagged this post suggesting that it be Featured. I don't know if you'll get a gold star from AR but you certainly have one in my book! You are such a blessing!
Julie, Thank you for reminding us to say those simple words that have such a strong impact! I did happen to write a long thank you note yesterday but I was unaware there was a month for it. Your analogy was wonderful. BTW, thank you for being here in the rain!
:::Group Hug::: You all have made my day with your kindness. Thank YOU!
Natalie:You are so welcome my friend and your words are so very kind. Thank YOU! That Cluster Map is pretty cool, did you post one yet? Oh yes and for the change, my life has taken such a positive turn. Oh happy day(s)! Best wishes and many blessings to you too!
Diane: How perfectly on target you are. When we share those words we need to say it full sincerity, then that Thank YOU is felt forever. Thank YOU for your wonderful comment.
Mary: It's never too late and once you start doing it, you'll find that it enlightens your day greatly. Best wishes to you with all your goals for the NY and Thank YOU for your friendship and support. We're going to be in Vegas May 4th. I wonder if there is a chance we can meet up this time. Have a wonderful day!
Gaye: You are welcome! My eyes must still be sleepy, because when I first looked at your name I thought it said Give Grace. Oh boy! How appropriate that would be though. I probably shared my blond side there.:) Thank YOU for your comment and support.
Katerina: You are so welcome and how simple that was to get in 5 Thank YOU's :). Thank YOU for your encouragement and friendship as always. Have a beautiful day!

Julie - great analogy! Saying thank you is always important. I like sending out quick note cards myself thanking people for their time ect. I know people appreciate and remember small gestures like this :)
Thank you Julie, for being the positive, caring, wonderful spirit that you are.
My favourite quote of all is
If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart

Jo
Good Morning Julie,
My first Thank You of the day goes to you for this great post. Who knew January was Thank You month? Not me.
Really I do think I probably meet my quota each day right here on AR. The members give so much and I am thankful. There are so many people I need to thank daily. Thank you for reminding me.
Julie, I remember an old Depak Chopra tape where he talked about that fact that you should give something to every person you meet...from a good thought to a flower to a compliment. It's the same about thank yous isn't it? By the way, I love your new picture!
As I am driving I think in my head of those thank you's but then I get back and get immersed in the day to day and don't follow through with my thoughts. My Mother is a wonderful example of sending thank you cards. She keeps a pack handy and if she gets good service she constantly is sending out cards. Great Reminder, I need to get in the habit of following through with my thoughts.
Smart post.... I've had a stack of thank you notes sitting here that I need to get out. Thank YOU for the friendly reminder
Julie, throughout the year there are a lot of strange observances. However, this is one worth celebrating. Let me say, THANK YOU for sharing it with us. I am sure, if we think long enough, we can find a lot of people who deserved a thanks a long time ago!
A great post and a great reminder. My thank you cards are dusty. I'll send them off this week. Thanks.
A very good post. I as many other put Thank You cards on the side.
Thanks for the reminder - People like to be acknolweged and thanked! I am going to try to start with 1 a day and then increase! -- Oh, when I think about it -- I already have thanked 5 people today --
What a great posting! As we all struggle through our life difficulties and rigors of the business we often forget that others are dealing with "issues" as well. A kind and heart felt thank you can mean so much to someone and brighten their day. Thank you, Julie, for reminding me to take the time to let others know that I appreciate what they do for me.

I did get my 5 today and it's not even noon!
Thank you! This is a good reminder, and something I've been telling myself every morning before I even get up - only to go to bed hours later without checking this off my list. Now, when I think about it, I'll picture your little envelope full of hearts. How cute!
Julie--What a good post...Thank you for posting it...That takes care of one for today. :) Congrats on the well-deserved feature!
Julie-I love your post...and what a great way to make other's smile! Thank you for being such fun when I am here and other places...thank you...for just being you!
JULIE- This is soooooooooooo like you, my friend! You are one of the most grateful people I've ever met. you can teach ALL of us about being thankful. I KNOW that I am truly THANKFUL that you are MY FRIEND!! GBU!
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE FEATURE!!!
Julie - Loved the comparisons - Thank you 2 simple words with a whole world of meaning nothing could be simpler
Julie, Congrats on your Feature, I am thrilled for you!! I had to stop back in to let you know, it is a wonderful post and very well deserved!
Thank You!
Julie, An awesome post!! Thank You is such a powerful word! I have thrown a "Thank You" party before and it was so much fun!! Thank You!
Julie~ thanks for reminding me and making me feel somewhat guilty. I have a new box of cards on the desk next to me and I just need to sit down and write out my cards but I've been procrastinating. BTW, love the hearts.
Hi Julie,
Thank you for the nudge. We love saying thank you to people for the service, friendship, chance to earn a living, the support they offer, the confidence they put in us for assisting them in making one of the biggest decisions they will make in their lives! Great idea to inspire us all to do this!
Thank your reminding me to say thanks!!!
Excellent post Julie! Thank you for sharing it with us! :) Amazing what a couple of simple words such as thank you can do for someones day, isn't it!? I would dare say most of us don't say it often enough.
Why, Julie....that gold star sure looks mighty fine on you! Congrats on the feature!
Thank You, Thank You,Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,Thank You
:::Group Hug::: You all have made my day with your kindness. Thank YOU! (I just love giving out hugs)
Bill: Thank YOU for such a very insightful comment. I'm not at all surprised that you make this apart of your day. You are so right, people do remember this very small gesture. In fact, today I received a call from a lender who came into our office about 6 months ago and gave a presentation. The day he was in our office, I immediately sent him a Thank YOU card. When he called today, he mentioned how much that meant. That little Thank YOU affects people in such a very positive way.
Jo: You my dear friend are so very kind and every time you leave comments on my blogs my heart certainly feels your hug. Thank YOU so much! Funny thing, your favorite quote "If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart" I absolutely love and was having a major debate as to which quote I was going to add to my blog. The beauty of it is, both still made it in here because of you. Many blessings and hugs to you.
Cynthia: Ahhh...Thank YOU my friend. What a privilege that is to be your first Thank YOU. I agree with you so much in the fact that this wonderful community, ActiveRain allows us to have so many fabulous people in our lives and because of all the giving of their knowledge, inspiration and hearts, we get the opportunity to say Thank YOU many, many, times. You always find your way to be so supportive. Have a fabulous weekend and many blessings to you.
Diane: Hmmm...I really like that "you should give something to every person you meet...from a good thought to a flower to a compliment" and you're right, it is the same as a Thank YOU. People are so positively affected by a kind word and that goes for you wonderful comment. Thank YOU! I wish for you many blessings and a wonderful weekend ahead.
Marchel: I completely understand where you're coming from on thinking about it and then getting caught up in the day to day activities. If it helps any, the thing that changed that for me, is to schedule it in my Outlook on Friday's when I do all of my weekly follow-ups and truly, it gives me such a positive outlook on the entire weeks experiences. Especially right now, when things are moving a little slower, it puts everything into perspective and reminds me of all the people and things I am so grateful for. Thank YOU for sharing your sweet mom as an example. Many blessings to you and a wish for a wonderful weekend ahead.
Desiree: You are so welcome and Thank YOU for such a kind comment. I hope this inspires you to use up the stack of cards that you have. Have a wonderful weekend ahead and many blessings my friend.
I love this post. I think we are a society that forgets to say thank you alot. I try to be aware of it and be extra polite every chance I get.
Julie...that was adorable and it sure made me stop and think! My contacs expect my brochure and cards on special holidays but they sure wouldn't expect a plain old THANK YOU!
I'm going to do that!
:::Group Hug::: You all have made my day with your kindness. Thank YOU!
Stephen: That is so true. When I was adding the holidays, really I was surprised at how many different celebrations there are. I remember when I was a child I would say to my sweet mom "why isn't there a kids day? There's a mother's day and father's day". I'm thinking there is actually a kids day now. Isn't that funny? Thank YOU for your wonderful comment and many blessings to you my friend.
Wayne: You are so welcome! The dust bunnies are ready to move on, so have fun filling out your Thank YOU cards. Thank YOU for your kind comment and many blessings to you.
Richard: Well pull them out of the box and send them off. You will be so glad you did. You may be pleasantly surprised at what doors that Thank YOU may open up. Many blessings for you to have a wonderful weekend.
Joan: Baby steps my friend, you will have it down to perfection. But wait, you already do. You are so right about the fact that people do want to be acknowledged. Often times when I'm in a store, my thoughts really focus on the type of service I'm getting from that person, then I'll look at their name tag and remember what a difference that will make to send them a Thank YOU. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and many blessings to you.
Todd: You are so welcome! You completely get it my friend. Your very kind hearted comment says it all. You just really never know what somebody is going through and what a big difference we can make as humans to be generous and thoughtful to make another persons day. I wish for you many blessings and have a wonderful weekend.
Collette: WOW! You've got this down to perfection. All before noon? Thank YOU for being a wonderful example. Many blessings to you and have a wonderful weekend.
Margaret: You are so welcome my friend. I hope this blog and that little envelope helps to inspire you daily to send out your Thank YOU's. Truthfully, I know you already send out many Thank YOU's because I've been the recipient to many. Thank YOU as always for your friendship, example and support here on ActiveRain. Many blessings to you and I hope you have a fantastic weekend.
Dora: You are so welcome and I truly appreciate your very kind comment. We can make such a very strong difference by just a small gesture. People hold onto those Thank YOU's for a lifetime. Have a wonderful weekend and many blessings to you.
Teri: You are so kind and Thank YOU for such a wonderful comment. Yes, that was a very pleasant surprise to see this featured. How exciting and I only hope for this post to make a huge difference in the way people connect with others. That simple Thank YOU can turn into a lifetime of friendships and referrals. Have a fabulous weekend and many blessings to you.
Midori: You are so welcome! You are such a sweetheart and it's truly always wonderful to see you visit. Thank YOU for being such a positive light and for leaving this wonderful comment. GBU and I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Bob & Carolin: You are so right. Thank YOU can never be said enough. Just a side thought, have you ever noticed what a difference it makes for the person on the receiving end? We were in Costco last night and the darling little lady preparing the fruit drink was just standing there with a somber look. When me and my children grabbed a drink off the platter, I said "Thank YOU" and she lifted her head as if to be surprised that those words were uttered. She smiled back and said "you're welcome". I wish for you a fabulous day!
Charles: Woah! Now that's getting your Thank YOU's in and just think how good that feels. Thank YOU for commenting and have a wonderful day!
Norma: You have got it my friend. That Thank YOU can last a lifetime and what a difference it truly makes for the rest who become apart of our lives. Whether it's a short passing or a lifelong relationship, everybody needs to hear and feel it genuinely. Thank YOU for sharing your thoughts and have a fabulous day!

Julie - Thank you!!! You are such an inspiration. You're a bright ray of sunshine in the rain and I appreciate you.
I did not know it was thank you month, but I am in the process of writing cards and letters to send out and was going to wish everyone a Hapopy New Year. Now I will definitely add a Thank you. Thank You Julie for sharing"o)

In EVERYTHING give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Th 5:18
THANK YOU for your post and all the work you put into it Julie. Does that count as one of my five? I am always amazed how gratefulness seems like something new to people. Just practice it ALL the time and the world will be a better place. I guess many need to be reminded.
