Town Hall Theatre is another one of those Lafayette treasures.  The Town Hall Theatre Company of Lafayette is the oldest, continuously active theater in Contra Costa County. They are a small community theater located in Lafayette.  The acting is traditional great, there is not a bad seat in the house and there is great bar that also serves Chow's Ginger Cake at intermission.

This delightful play takes audiences into the inner sanctum of 1939 Hollywood in a fun, fast-paced Bay Area premiere comedy. Movie mogul David O. Selznick has just shut down production on his epic movie, Gone With The Wind, and locked himself in his office with screenwriter Ben Hecht and director Victor Fleming -- whom he dragged off The Wizard of Oz set -- to rewrite the script. The three of them work for seven days straight re-tooling the adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's celebrated novel, wrestling over every detail, from the shape of the plantation pillars to Rhett Butler's famous final words to Scarlett O'Hara. This funny and fascinating behind-the-scenes piece comes to vivid life as three icons of the film industry battle over what became one of greatest movies ever made.

Town Hall Theatre is located at 3535 School Street at Moraga Road, Lafayette, Ca 94549.  Tickets may be purchased through the Town Hall Theatre Box Office, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 3-6 p.m. and one hour prior to curtain on performance nights. I just saw the production and can honestly say that this was one of the best productions that I have ever seen.  The acting was superb, the set perfect and the only problem was I made too much noise laughing.  Go See the  "Moonlight & Magnolias" ,  you will not be sorry.
