Hot Properties in Cold Country
Another statewide broker is Bernie and Barbara Vockner of Remote Properties Inc. They have a listing that is on the other end of the money scale.
Of course I occasionally have one of these "Alaskan Properties" for sale myself. Here is one by the Matanuska glacier. I just listed a beautiful log home that I will highlight with a future post. I always enjoy those properties. I guess it's because they remind me of my childhood on the Yukon River. I just love the Alaskan outdoors. The Yukon River is in Alaska's interior which is very cold in the winter and very warm in the summer. Of course, it's all relative. Interior temperatures range from -60 and colder in the winter to 80 and warmer in the summer. That's quite a temperature swing. Here's an interesting property on Big River in the interior. I love the Volkner's description of access, "A truly rewarding place for whatever your purpose may be, but hard to reach. It is almost a two-hour flight from Anchorage through Rainy Pass or one may charter out of McGrath, which is about a 45-minute flight. There are numerous gravel bars, which offer some good landing sites for the experienced pilot." It's only $40,000 for 38 acres. If you want to look for remote property in Alaska just send me a note. I'll point you in the right direction!!
