North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains Always in Season - Did You Know?

 Fannin County in the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains is called the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains?  Fannin borders Tennessee and North Carolina and is centrally located to these neighboring cities and towns all within 16 to 44 miles:

Copperhill Tennessee (Polk County)

Murphy North Carolina (Cherokee County)

Blairsville Georgia (Union County)

Dahlonega Georgia (Lumpkin County)

Facts about Fannin County:

  • Home of historic downtown Blue Ridge known for antiques and original mountain arts and crafts
  • Over 40% of Fannin, approximately 160,000 plus acres) is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest with majestic mountain peaks ranging over 4000 feet above sea level.  The Toccoa River runs through the county and flows into the Ocoee River (famous for it's whitewater rafting) and the Ocoee River runs into the Tennessee River in Tennessee.
  • Lake Blue Ridge spans 3290 acres and has over 100 miles of shoreline
  • 80% of the land surrounding the lake is National Forest Land
  • The lake at full pool is 1690 feet above sea level
  • Average temperatures range on average range from 50 to 85 degrees High and 26 to 60 Low.  Typically the wettest month in Fannin County is June and the driest month is November.  An average amount of snowfall is 6.5 inches.
