Baltimore County Rental Registration

A few years back, Baltimore County started a pilot program regarding the registration of rental properties in certain parts of the county. This program has now been expanded to all of the county. All buildings or a portion of a building that contain one to six dwelling units intended or designated as rental units must register and be licensed with Baltimore County on or before July 1, 2008. This process involves an inspection of the property and a registration fee. The following site provides the details of the program:

(07/25/08 03:45PM) — Maryland Licensed Home Inspector

It is against Maryland State Law for any Home Inspector to recommend repair(s) or recommend any service provider. It is also against the Law for any Home Inspector as well as Lead Inspectors to inspect property they have an interest in.

Meaning.... Home & Lead Inspectors are NOT allowed to inspect property that they own or manage.

You could face jail time if caught.

It's a good idea for any property owner or new homebuyer to make sure that the inspector they hire is "Maryland State Licensed".   Report any inspector that doesn't have one.
