A report on KPTM.com and statistics from the National Association of Realtors show what many of us around the
metro area have been saying since the market started it's correction. You can not base local real estate sales on national news. Real estate markets conditions are localized.
The doom and gloom that has been reported in the East and West has created concern and I feel in many cases confussion among buyers and sellers in our local markets. Who should you believe, the national news reports, they have to tell the truth, right, or your local REALTOR, they are just in it for themselves, right?
No, Nebraska did not have an increase in 2007 over 2006. However, the numbers are encouraging when compared to national figures.
Nebraska showed a decrease in # of existing sales of 4.9%, National sales dropped 12.8%. I think we did pretty well. And, the clouds are clearing.

This is great news for you and I always tell my buyers and sellers to stop listening to the news and read the numbers for themselves! Numbers don't lie, either does the news, but they only give you part of the story, that is what sells!
