Yesterday morning started out foggy, but as soon as the fog cleared, it was sunny and warm and time to put the top down on the Porsche and hit the Wine Country for day of sight seeing and, of course, a fabulous lunch -- it was time to take a day off. We are so fortunate to live in the Bay Area. Everything really is right outside our door.

To complete the ambience we had to choose the right soundtrack: Eric Clapton, Santana, The Cure, The Cars, Bob Seger and Jim Croce. The right music is very important when it comes to setting the mood. This combination proved to be perfect.
We weren't in any big hurry, which is good because being in a hurry doesn't bode well in the Wine Country. They leave that to the City. If you haven't been to the Wine Country, it really is a feast for the eyes, nose and the taste buds!
We couldn't figure out what the giant red screw was all about (see it next to the St. Supery sign?), so we took a picture of it in case someone else knew...

We didn't take the wine train yesterday, but we have done it once before on my birthday. Also very relaxing...

Opus One is pretty impressive...

And, then, finally we get to the lunch part... It's one of those restaurants that are so good that you don't really want to tell people about it because you don't want it to get too crowded. (Selfish, I know...)
Traditional French dishes like a starter of Bone Marrow (this is NOT a good place for those counting calories). (Can anyone guess what kind of wine goes with that cork?)
And if you've never had potato risotto, be prepared to fall in love...
When dining at Bistro Jeanty, one must not miss the Mousse au Chocolat Brulee. Truly divine. I was so excited about eating the dessert that I did not take a photo.
Needless to say, dinner was very light. :)

All right I am sooooo jealous. You are making me have wander lust.
And I didn't even tell you about my starter: house smoked trout on thinly sliced potatoes with seasonal greens. Or my main course: filet mignon with a creamy mushroom sauce on a bed of hericot vertes. Nor did I even include any photos of the really spectacular views, because we probably would have gotten into a car accident. It really should be experienced first-hand and in person.
