CSX road closure in Hernando County

Beginning Tuesday, February 19, 2008, and continuing through March 26th, the CSX Railroad will be performing major maintenance on their line that runs through Hernando County. This work will involve replacement of ties, replacement of the timber at the grade crossings, raising the rails and repaving the crossings. This maintenance work will impact nearly all the grade crossings in the County and will result in extended closure of the portions of the roads where they cross the railroad.

For all roads that are closed, detour routes will be established and will be clearly posted. The estimated duration of each closure is approximately 8 days. For residents and businesses affected by the closures, emergency services and essential services will be provided via the detour routes. County and City staffs are coordinating closely with CSX officials to reopen the closed roads as soon as possible.
