Many people ask me why I moved from Hawaii to Maggie Valley, NC. It's an adventure I tell them - - I visited friends here and knew I wanted to live here. Who wouldn't love the change of seasons, the laid back lifestyle, the mountains everywhere you look, the great food, the log homes, the creeks, and the affordable cost-of-living. More details on all of that in another post.
See one of my favorite 'sweet delights' haunts here... Whitman's Bakery, just a 10 minute drive from Maggie Valley.
Here is a visual answer to why I love it here... through my camera lens, for the most part.

Hi Susie-how beautiful..and I do find it odd you moved from Hawaii to North Carolina...its because the snow is hard for me to take. I laugh because it is beautiful but I know that white fluffy stuff is cold...cold...cold...
Your photo's are beautiful...
