SILO (School Infrastructure Local Option) is a local one-cent sales and service tax that provides Scott County school districts a revenue-producing alternative to property taxes for infrastructure and technology needs. Voters are being asked to renew the existing SILO tax, which expires June 30, 2009.

SILO revenue may be used to: build and furnish new buildings or additions to buildings; expand, remodel, repair or otherwise improve buildings; complete emergency repairs; lease or lease-purchase buildings or equipment, including technology; and pay the principal and interest or retirement of general obligation bonds.
