Maui County Hawaii - Real Estate Sales - Year to Date Statistics
Our Realtors Association of Maui compiles some great statistics for SOLD listings. Here are some helpful links:
You can see that the Central area (Wailuku and Kahului) has the most number of single family home sales usually, with many newly built subdivisions still closing on the homes that buyers signed up for years ago. Pictured above are some homes in a newer section of Wailuku. Median sold price was $531,621.
South (Kihei and Wailea) has the highest number of condos sales. Right now the stats are saying that condo prices are up about 25%. Keep in mind that these numbers are based on a relatively small set of properties... just 125 condos sold in the past 2.5 months.
Recently Olowalu is leading with 14 parcels of vacant land sales this year to date. This is an area with a couple of large new agricultural subdivisions, on the West Maui side of the island.... average price was $1,395,000.

I wonder what percentage of the sales were to foreign buyers? When I was in Maui the beach was full of Canadians.
Randy - a lot of our sales are to foreigners. Kihei is jokingly referred to as "little Canada" in the winter months. But you still have a hard time finding Clamato in the stores, and buttertarts are impossible to find. hahaha
Hi Fred - Cheers to you too! Will you bring some buttertarts too? It's funny, we have some friends who come every year and they pack their suitcases full of Clamato! This year they even had some shipped in (they stay for a month).
Georgina - If you are putting up a fence, I like those white ones that never need painting! Such an improvement!
BJ - Yeah they look really nice when they're new.... and they stay nice for a while.
Georgina, where is Wailuku in comparison to Maui and Paia? Is Wailuku the area that I passed when driving from Paia back to Maui? Sorry, I just can't remember.
I noticed that you have changed your icon from your dog to your footprint.
How's it going?
Don't you have any melting buildings in Maui ?? :-)
Just checking in with a thank you for your reply to my post. Hope all is well.
Brian
Gena - Thanks for asking. Wailuku and Kahului are like sister cities, only a couple of miles apart technically, but they kind of run into each other. Wailuku is the seat of government on Maui, while Kahului is the main commercial and business area. Both are west of the airport. Paia is to the east of the airport. When driving from the airport to Paia, you pass through Spreckelsville only - that's where you stayed for your last night.
We shipped off the last of our winter visitors on Wednesday - and I'm sort of back to normal now. Don't know how we will survive without all the company!
Brian - that is one goofy picture. I guess the developer has a good sense of humor, and a good bank account too - it can't be cheap to do that.
Aloha Georgina,
Yes thanks to the depreciating US Dollar Canadians have never had it so good when it comes to visiting da braddahs and sistas to the south.
Here on Oahu our European coz's are flocking here like ne'ne'.
Thanks for the stat's on the Valley Isle!
ps jelousy windows never went out of style in Makaha, too bad ya.
Georgina - Love these homes. I closed my eyes and imagined myself lounging on a patio in full afternoon sun...Lovely!
Kimo - I used to be one of those Canadians!
Marzena - stay out of the sun - it's not good for you... : )
