Aloha airlines abruptly closed its doors yesterday - citing high fuel cost and fierce competition. They gave there employees and passengers a 24 hour notice of the impending doom. After over 60 years of Service - 24 hours notice, sure didn't seem like much. Both passengers and employees are in shock. Not very much Aloha - in Aloha Airlines anymore.
The good news is that Hawaiian Airlines has stepped up to the plate and they are offering FREE - thats right FREE - standby flights back to the mainland for any of the passengers stranded. Now that is the ALOHA SPIRIT we are use too !
So if any of your friends and family are stranded - tell them to contact Hawaiian Airlines, and inquire about the standby procedure.

Aloha Lance, I got my StarBulletin alert and couldn't believe the RAPID exit. Do you think someone will step in to pick them back up? Pretty astounding for sure. Were the pilots that didn't answer for 30 minutes with Aloha? Can't remember.
The pilots that didnt answer were from GO, they over shot the Hilo airport.
Its is sad to see them go. I shouldnt be too mad for the fact that I lost over 150K miles I didnt use yet. There are now 1,900+ workers with jobs. It just goes to show that no job is stable. People need to be on there feet and be productive, because you never know when things like this will happen.
