NO, I never was able to catch a Snipe. SKYPE is an internet based phone service which is FREE if you make calls inside the United States. You can go to http://www.skype.com/ and download the needed program for free and then make free calls. The idea is to use your computer to make and receive phone calls. You do need a microphone and speakers ..... I use a headset with a microphone,
and I LOVE IT. The reason why I love this service is that it is exceptionally clear (no static) and extremely easy to hear when I wear a headset. The headset blocks out the surrounding noises like other people talking, music, or the boss in the other room hollering. Like I mentioned, all calls made to a US phone number are FREE and International calls are very cheap. If you call another SKYPE subscriber on their SKYPE phone number, no matter where they are in the world, it is also FREE. Answers to some questions: - YES, you can call any landline or cell phone in the United States or around the world.
- You can order a "real phone" to plug into the system and use it like a real phone, BUT buying a headset for $30.00 is easier and much more economical.
- You can use the phone service anywhere which you have high speed internet access. So, it can travel with you.
- You can talk as long as you like and as often as you like provided you have high speed internet access.
SKYPE is more common outside the United States and is used quite regularly because of the ease of use and economical costs to call into the United States. It was my clients in Central America who put me onto SKYPE. There are other uses for SKYPE like for sending files or Instant Messaging, and other functions which I have not investigated.
