Current Number of Homes Active and Under Contract in the Washington DC area:
Here is the breakdown as of April 7th, 2008
With over 650 Homes "Expiring" or coming off of the market last week; some area are showing a decrease in inventory. Expect to see most of these homes returning to the market place this week; hopefully with price reductions for the Buyers out there seeking the best deals
example: Single Family Homes in DC; 24 less on market from last week, but 59 "expired" - in reality 34 new listings came on the market.

Single Family: Actives: 1849 (Down 24 from last week) Expired: 59 Under Contract: 449

Arlington County
Single Family: Actives: 517 (Up 25 from last week) Expired: 9 Under Contract: 136

Condos: Actives: 1448 (Up 9 from last week) Expired: 61 Under Contract: 316
It is important to see the number of homes taken "Off" the market. While many of these homes will return to the marketplace a week or two; seeing a listing "expire" means that the seller and agent thought or expected the home to be sold by now.
