My Real Estate Blog gets Featured on Reuters, Chicago Sun Times, and Neilsen Through Blogburst

If you have not heard of it, Blogburst is a syndication channel for some of the best news sources in the country.

If you would like some great online exposure I would suggest you try to get your blog approved at their site. My understanding is that it is not easy and they will not just add every site that applies for entry.

Some of the featured distribution channels for Blogburst are Reuters, USA Today, Gannett, Mcgraw-Hill, Chicago Sun Times, and Fox News.

I had not visited the site in a while and did not realize that a few of my recent posts were featured on some of the various news outlets.

I had done a post here at Active Rain a few weeks ago that was featured titled Federal Funds Rate drop V.S 30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgages. The article talked about how the general public and even many Realtors mistakenly assume that when the Fed drops the Federal Funds Rate, that there will be a corresponding drop in 30 year fixed rate mortgages as well.

What I didn't realize is that Reuters and The Chicago Sun Times also thought this was a news worthy post. Click the links and you will see the post at these sites.

I had also done a post in regards to one of the proposed stimulus packages designed to increase Real Estate activity across the country. This post was titled Home Buyer Tax Credits ~ A Stimulus Package that could Actually Work! You can see this post at Reuters as well.

Another post that was featured is how I incorporate the RealBird marketing platform into my online marketing efforts for the Real Estate and homes I am selling. This RealBird post was picked up by the Small Business Resource Center of Neilsen. Unfortunately, I noticed that part of my post showing the RealBird map widget did not get transfered.

The Blogburst site is just another way to get your message out to a larger audience!!

Bill, I first read about Blogburst on Neal Bloom's blog and have tried unsuccessfully a few times to get my blog accepted there.  Maybe I'll try again.

Brian I would give it a shot..you have one of the best blogs around!

(04/08/08 02:37PM) — Mike Jackson

That must be a lot of exposure to get featured with Reuters, Chicago Times, and Neilsen Through Blogburst. Have you received any business through blgburst?

Hi Mike I have noticed some traffic through blogburst although I can not say that it has brought me business directly. I will tell you though that my blog has brought me business. I have gotten eight listings from my blog here at Active Rain since I joined last July.

(04/08/08 02:42PM) — The Blog Artist - marti garaughty

Geeze Bill, that is absolutely awesome news, talk about quality exposure. Congrats my friend, you deserve it!

Thanks Marti..it came as complete surprise until I visited the site this morning and noticed that my articles had been picked up. Free press nver hurts :)

(04/08/08 02:49PM) — Jo Soss | Bremerton WA Real Estate

Bill, that is awesome!! Can I say I featured it first - lol :)

Jo Thank a bunch. You sure can... I know you gve me one of the gold stars :) Hey you can hit that button again if you want - LOL

This is great Bill....I knew that post "Federal Funds Rate drop V.S 30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgages" was a winner when I first read it! Congratulations! Well deserved recognition.

(04/08/08 03:46PM) — Linda Scanlan

Bill - Can I tell people I "knew you when"?? Congratulations! This is awesome news and I'm happy for you! I've tried a couple of times at blogburst and have been rejected, but I know that you write quality posts after quality posts! You're awesome!

Bill, I already knew you are an expert!  Congrats.

Bill, I didn't see your article, but I'll check it out. What great information to provide for potential buyers. They all assume that the drop will be reflected in 30 year loans. ;-) Congrats!

Pepper

Bill,

Some buyers are asking me about a tax break on foreclosure home purchases. Do you know anything?

(04/08/08 07:13PM) — Chris Mitchell

Congrats Bill.  High profile stuff for sure...which means more traffic and Google Juice!

Sandra Thanks I know you were one of the people to feature it!

Linda - You are too funny. Hey I would give it another shot, you never know.

Virginia - Thanks not sure about being an expert but at least a little bit knowledgable :)

Teri - It is funny how there is such a misunderstanding when it comes to the fed funds rate and the 30 year fixed rate mortgage. There should be more information about this on tv. More people would have a handle on how things work if there was more mentioned about it on the news.

Lori - I believe there was another bill that was getting some traction in congress about providing a tax credit to a buyer that purchased a foreclosed home. This isn't bad of course but having a bill that gave a tax credit for any purchase would be outstanding!

Very nice exposure Bill.  I will definitely be revisiting Blogburst.  And how interesting the Real Bird article went through, different exposure, but still great exposure.

Bill, first of all Congratulations!  Then, Thank you for this information on Blogburst.

Hi Bill,

Wow, you've become a star! It couldn't happen to a nicer person. Well done.

Congratulations . you deserve the recognition.Hope you get additional business from it.

Chris - Thanks! Yes Google juice is terrific :)

Steve - You would be a great candidate for Blogburst. Good luck with it.

Lola- Your welcome! You would also be a great addition. I hope you can get in.

Lynda - Your comment is making me laugh. I certainly would not go that far :)

Gita - Thank you very much I really appreciate it!

Well done Bill! I envy your brain :-) Hope you're having a great week! (2 more contracts since my last note... I may be close to a complete blogging getaway.)

Thanks for the info! Great job, keep up the good work!

Hey, Bill.  I'm glad you shared.  However, I'm really looking forward to reading some of your past posts I missed.   It looks like you covered some great topics.

Thanks for the great info! Your blog is fast becoming my favorite resource for online tools and info!

Hi Bill - Great news for you and excellent exposure.  WTG.  I will check out Blogburst too.

Hi Bill - congrats on all the exposure!!  I've tried a couple of times with Blogburst, I'll keep trying.  Thanks for the reminder, and congrats again!

Ann

(04/09/08 08:14PM) — Lane Bailey - REALTOR & Car Guy

I've been turned down once... I need to write more specifically about RE for a while and then apply again.  I think they reviewed me when I had a bunch of car stuff... That would be the big disadvantage of having a "less than fully focused" blog.

Bill - Congratulations!  I had the same experience as Brian (i.e. my blog was not approved by BlogBurst).  I may try again sometime down the road.

Bill, Congratulations! Give yourself a big pat on the back. I am on my way to check it out now! Way to go!

Bill - Congratulations! Like Brian Block I have tried unsuccessfully a few times - I heard it depends on sources in your area already too.  Happy for you!! :)

Bill - you are like having my own personal real estate tutor!!!!  You are my hero!

Tina in Virginia

(04/09/08 08:43PM) — Real Bird

Bill - Absolutely amazing ! Congratulation !

-- Zoltan

Mara - That is great! I am glad to hear things are picking up with Real Estate in your area!

Sandy - thanks a lot I appreciate it.

Natalie - Thanks - I would read the post about the difference between the Federal Funds Rate and 30 year fixed rate mortgages. There is some good information that many are not aware of :)

Candis - Thanks I like to share all the Real Estate resources I can find - it makes us all better Realtors!

Chris - Thanks I would absolutely try to get into Blogburst as the exposure will be great.

Ann, Lane, and Jason - I am surprised that you guys were not able to get in. I think all your work is excellent and you should be there!! I guess I got lucky!

Elizabeth - Thanks I hope you are able to get into Blogburst!

Cyndee there has to be something to it. Maybe I got lucky... there are too many good bloggers including yourself, that have not made it into Blogburst.

Susan - Thanks I really appreciate it.

Tina - Those are some pretty high expectations :) I will continue to try to give alll the best info I can find.

Zoltan - Thanks...hopefully you will get some exposure from this as well :)

Bill, congratulations. What an accomplishment. It is so wonderful to see the people we know being featured on the outside. I just love it when I hear good news and this certainly is. You deserve it and you make us all very proud to know you,

Bill~That is fantastic! Congrats to you my friend. You deserve every bit of acknowledgment for your blog and for being such a leader in our industry.

(04/09/08 11:59PM) — Keely Jared

Kudos to you and what a testament to your having a great and relevant blog.  Congrats and thank you for sharing.

Amazing, and congratulations that you have acquired more exposure than you were expecting through blogging.

Thanks for the heads up. This sounds like a good resource to check out and keep track of.

(04/10/08 04:09AM) — Linda Scanlan

Bill - Just had to drop back by and say CONGRATULATIONS for your gold star! You definitely deserve one for this...of course, I'd give you one every day just because you're a great guy!

Wow these are some great success stories about active rain.  Congratulations to all.

Gena & Julie - Thank you very much I value both of your friendships greatly!

Keely & Ryan - Thank you ver much for your kind remarks :)

Linda - You are the best!!

Russ - Thanks...the exposure at Active Rain is great for all of us!

Bill, congratualions, I signed up, not sure I ever got the confirmation email. Wonderful exposure for you in MA.

BILL - Thanks for the tip.  I'm glad that your blog got picked up, and that they featured some of your very helpful articles.  Great job as usual!

Congrats Bill!  Blogburst is a great syndication tool that brings some nice traffic back to me also :)

Missy - Thanks! I would try to find out if you are in or not. Blogburst does give you some real nice exposure.

Adam - Your welcome my friend. You would be a prime candidate to represent Long Island with your awesome blog!

Renee - Thanks..no surprise you made it in!

Bill,

Congrats, nice to see a fellow Massachusetts Metrowest guy succeed!

Keep up the great posts

George thanks I really appreciate it!

Congratulations to you!  What a wonderful achievement.  And thanks for the information about the new Blog site.

Diane thanks! I hope you can get into Blogburst.

Bill,

As you know I have written on this a few times...mine have been syndicated since July of 2007...I have some currently featured on both Reuters and Chicago Sun Times....I guess Blogburst is very selective as to who they choose. I love it!

Wow - wayyyy cool.  I don't think my blogs would be interesting enough to a broad audience to be included on blogburst, but congratulations to you!  way to go!

Exposure is the key. I need to raise the bar on my blogs to get here. national exposure is everything.

(04/10/08 08:49AM) — Richard Lecinski

congratulations!! That really gives you major exposure and a nice slap on that back

(04/10/08 08:49AM) — Richard Lecinski

Neal - I sure do remember! I read your posts on Blogburst and pretty sure I had made comments on them.

Karen - Thanks..you never know about getting into Blogburst. I would give it a shot.

(04/10/08 09:02AM) — Michael Taylor

Nice job and thanks for the heads up on Blog Burst.  Hopefully my blog is up to snuff.

Mike - Thanks and good luck getting into Blogburst.

Bill- Thanks again, you always lead in the right direction! Congrats too on writing some great posts!

Vanessa - Thank you very much and good luck with Blogburst.

Great resource to drive traffic! Looks like they only feature the most stellar posts...topics that are national news worthy.

Wow, congratulations. That is great. I signed up with blogburst right after I started blogging. Then I worked on other sites like it.

great exposure....congrats

Christopher - Thanks for your comments. Hope you are able to get into Blogburst.

Christy - Were you able to get into Blogburst? My understanding is that it is pretty difficult. I may have gotten lucky :)

Eric - Thanks!

(04/10/08 03:23PM) — Utah Dave and Utah Homes for Sale

How interesting is that.  The internet just takes things and throws it every which way direction that you cant even imagine.   Thats why we love the word VIRAL!   Viral marketing online and offline is the way to go.  Good on you.

I will have to check out blogburst. It seems that there are so many different channels to advertise online and the great thing is they are all free. What are huge change in real estate marketing.

Hi Dave - Internet exposure is great thats for sure :) Hope you are able to get in.

Kevin good luck with Blogburst! Having some national exposure is certainly worthwhile especially if you are able to obtain some backlincks to your blog or website.

I took a look at Blogburst.  The FAQ section says that ideal blogs are 100 to 450 words.  Maybe some of the blogs being submitted are too long?  I'm going to try, but much of my blog is focused on local interest articles, so I doubt I have much of a chance.

Wow! Another gem of a post brought to us through AR... thanks so much for this info. I'm headed there now.

Thanks for the tip.  I tried to register my ActiveRain blog, but it wouldn't let me.  So I tried my wordpress blog (http://KelleyEling.WordPress.com) and that worked just fine.  Now, we'll see if it gets approved.  (For category, "Real Estate" was not a choice.  I debated between "Business" and "Lifestyle", and finally chose "Lifestyle" since my blog isn't always about business.

Penny it is worth a shot - hope you can get in :)

Chuck - Thanks for your compliments!

Kelley - Your welcome. I wonder why they would not let you register an Active Rain blog? I am also surprised Real Estate was not a choice. I must have registered under business. It has been a while so I don't remember.

(04/10/08 08:41PM) — John Cookman Sr. Loan Officer

Hey Thanks for the heads up.

jc

Steve - Your welcome...best of luck with Blogburst.

Bill,

I forgot to mention that I have actually seen your on there too when I was looking at mine there was a link back to yours I remember clicking on it and seeing yours.

Neal that is great that they are linked up like that. That is quite a few views - congrats!!

Bill,

I'm sure you love it too...we seem to be the few that Blogburst let join...I'm surprised because there are some other really talented bloggers that are worthy.

Neil looking at some of the people that got turned down I think we may have gotten a little lucky to get approved.

Congratulations Bill and great job.  Keep up the great work!

Thanks George I really appreciate it.

(04/13/08 04:47PM) — Keith Vincent

MMMM, I'm going to check them out, I wonder if they cover Canada? Great information though, thank-you very much for the post.

Keith your welcome I am not sure if they cover Canada or not.

As a beginning blogger it is always great to get new information.  Something to aspire to.

Congratulations on this super-syndication benefit!  I hope you reap some serious business from it.

Pam glad you found it to be useful. Once you have done some more work with you blog give it a shot :)

Kent thanks my friend!

Spokane RealtorHey thanks for the post. Do you find that it's mostly financial market stuff they use? I will check them out.

Ross I don't think that is necessarily financial information that they feature. The post I made regarding the RealBird marketing platform was used as an example.

Bill, that is very exciting....  Congrats!!!

Judy thanks a lot. It was exciting because I had not even noticed :)

I gave it a shot today (actually I had misplaced your blog and spent last evening looking for it - got it bookmarked now!!!)

I was not sure what category to put mine under so I went with business (agree about being surprised at no Real Estate section) Got a reply back within a few minutes that it was not accepted. I'll try again in a bit as I have only had the blog a couple of months. It could be it is not focused enough. Everything in this area revolves around Lake Powell - Real Estate included. Would appreciate it if you had time to check it out and drop me back some feedback  http://www.lakepowellrealty.net

I think it is cool that places like bloghurst exist and that the everyday perspectives can get picked up and published. My heavens what a different world than just five years ago! Congrats!!

Hi Heather I think the possible reason for not getting in is because of the age of your blog. If I am not mistaken they had a time limit of either 3 or 6 months that your blog had to be in existence. I will check out your blog - I am sure it is just great :)

(04/18/08 04:30PM) — Frances C. Rokicki, Broker~Mentor

Wow!  Very impressive stuff!  Good for you Bill.  Nice to see you getting such positive exposure. Keep up the good work!

It's a Good Life!

Fran

Fran thanks so much I really appreciate it :)

Well, Bill...it looks like you just got spammed!

(04/20/08 08:07AM) — Steve Homer

OK Bill...  Now you have set a new standard for me to shoot for!  Thanks for this encouraging post!  Steve

Linda - My 1st time hitting the delete button in a while :)

Steve - Thanks a million. Best of luck getting in.

(04/20/08 06:45PM) — Arthur R. van der Vant

Congratulations and thank you for this tip.

Arthur thanks! Your welcome for the tip!

(04/28/08 07:26PM) — Justin Williams - Loan Officer

Bill thanks for the Headsup!  I was directed to your post from Zoltan at Realbird.  Thanks for sharing this great tip!

Justin your welcome! Zoltan has a great site! RealBird is an excellent tool I use to promote all of my listings in and around Metrowest Massachusetts.
