New 64-Acre Park Coming To Draper
I just read an article in the April Issue of The Draper City Journal that states a new park is going to appear in Draper courtesy of a $48 million bond that was voted for in 2006. The location of this park will be 342 E. and 13800 S., and is said to be similar to Sugar House Park & Liberty Park. The owners of the property Gene & Deane Wheadon placed a conservation easement on the land in 1997.
I think it's great to see that they cared enough about the area and had the foresight to not cave when I'm sure a number of developers came to them with large sums of money. $5,000,000 is nothing to scoff at, but the land is worth far more in this popular commercial and residential area. This new park will be great for everyone in Draper and will even be great for others from different cities that can take advantage of the Park. As a Draper resident myself, I am very excited to see this happen.
