Main St. in Parker to be More Pedestrian Friendly

The Town of Parker is planning improvements to East Mainstreet through downtown Parker. The project encompasses East Mainstreet from Parker Road east to the Parker Water and Sanitation District office.

The project will include rebuilding entire intersections, expanded plaza areas, storm water drainage improvements, additional parking, and new street crossings.

Motorists will face intermittent road closures along the heavily traveled stretch during a comprehensive, months-long project to make the downtown area more pedestrian friendly.

Construction is scheduled to begin later in April or early May and likely will last until the end of October, although an exact timetable is waiting for contracts to be signed.

The road improvements are expected to bolster pedestrian access to a proposed cultural arts center. The arts project would include a performing arts complex southeast of East Mainstreet and Pine Drive.

Until next time,
