The Capital Solar Condos (1337 Harvard St., NW), the first DC solar-powered condos, are now for sale in Columbia Heights. The three condos, located in a renovated townhouse, are two blocks from the Columbia Heights metro and three blocks from the new Target, Best Buy, and Marshall's.
The condos embrace the idea of green living in a stylish manner. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity that can be used to help reduce your monthly electric bill. On really sunny days, you can save up extra energy which can be sold back to the energy company and re-used on cloudier days. Bamboo floors, tankless water heaters, motion sensor lighting and low flow shower heads are just some of the other energy saving features.
So far, all three units are still available. A two-bedroom, one-bath unit is $475,000, a two-bedroom, two-bath unit with parking is $499,000 and a three-bedroom, three-bath unit with parking is $620,000. Information about the condos, including their green features, a description of yearly savings, and photos of the individual units, is available on their website.
This is one way to reduce your carbon footprint!
