Is the Investor Window Slowly Closing on Canada?

window

Please don't read too much into the title.

The investor window never shuts... but some opportunities grow colder with a changing market.

Which brings us to Canada.

A few months ago the Canadians had this edge over their neighbors in the states:

  • Stronger currency
  • Hotter market
  • Rising home prices

Fast forward to now:

  • Potential for falling home prices

Canadians have rushed to my area in droves...

...they've purchased second homes in the Arizona sunshine.

Our low prices combined with their strong currency made these purchases a huge bargain.

Conditions have not been so favorable in the past three decades.

The window is not closed... but the peak has, in my opinion, been already achieved.

There's only so much more time before the pendulum swings the other direction.

As the US dollar gains strength against the Canadian dollar and we switch position on the housing slump it's time for Canadians investors to make their foray into the market before the conditions swing.

Chuck-I better get ready for the Canadians are coming! They love Florida too!

I heard that the Russians were buying up all of the real estate in Florida.

Hmm maybe we should do some reciprocal links...........you could do my canadian investor/retired snowbird page and ad your bio/link...:-)

Katerina- They're still coming here as well... but the exchange rate is beginning to dilute the savings.

Lisa- I heard the same... any confirmation on this?

Liz- If you have anyone, let me know. We have quite a few Canadians coming in and are managing to find quite a bit of property at very good prices. However, the Canadians are beginning to compete against each other- in one location prices have risen because of the sudden demand.
