Somewhere Over the "Mililani Rainbow"

Sharon Simms came to Hawaii in January for the CRS Sellabration at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and she and her daughter also got to do a little sightseeing.

Along the way to the North Shore they stopped by Mililani Town and noticed (actually she was in awe) of the rainbows around and above the Mililani area.

A slight drizzle coming from the Koolau Mountains will give an array of colors for many wonderful rainbow shows throughout the year over Mililani, Waipio Gentry, Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa and Wheeler Army Air Field.

Of course rainbows are rampant all over Oahu...but these wonderful shows are right in our neighborhood. Many times while driving down and up Kipapa Gulch through the valleys looking from Kamehameha Highway or the H-2 freeway I've seen these beautiful arrays of colors.

I also found a few tidbits of info regarding Mililani and Rainbow related events, places and even a farm at our local Mililani Saturday Farmers Market:

• Rainbow Schools opened in 1987 and is a preschool across from the Mililani Town Center at the Christ Lutheran Church. (there are other Rainbow Schools located in Kaneohe, Honolulu, Kahuku and Wahiawa too)
• Mililani Rainbow Open Golf Tournament (one of the most prestigious Open Tournaments in Hawaii) since 1973.  Popular among local golfers. Home of Mililani Junior Golf.
• Rainbow Farm is a vendor at our Mililani Farmers Market on Saturdays. (This Farmers Market is also cosponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation)  Rainbow Farm sells "Rainbow Papayas" as well as other produce.
