What do you consider affordable should be the question.
I am constantly seeing the shock on my mainland clients faces as I show them real estate for sale - they have seen the housing market drop like crazy over there - therefore - Hawaii must be the same. The answer is yes - it has dropped, but nothing like the mainland. What does $200,000 get you - a 1 bedroom condo without a view?
I have just run an MLS search for any homes under $400,000 - there are only 13 homes in Kona for under $400,000. You just have to remember - Hawaii is Hawaii, there just are not going to be the deals you see on the mainland. Please - when you send me an email - clearly state your interest - I can't tell you how many people send me there email address - with no description - I don't want you getting a bunch of junk mail. I usually send one courtesy email for more info and then delete it.

The same $400,000 here in Louisiana would buy a brand new home 3000 sq.ft. home with slab granite countertops, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, upgraded kitchen appliances, triple crown moldings, wood and tile floors, etc.
