Today I had several appointments scheduled. I was supposed to do floor time for a couple of hours, work on my files, set up an open house day/time with a listing of mine and fix the sign in the yard, open a house for an appraiser and do my visual inspection disclosure, just to name a few things.
Of course all plans halted when my children started getting sick this morning. The poor things are finally napping after 3 hours of battling the bowl.
All of this made me realize though, I needed a break. My sick children forced me to take a much needed one today.
I'm so glad I can be here to soothe them and keep them as comfortable as possible during this time. The real estate world can wait. My kids need me.
I feel blessed and honored to be their mother.

I love your attitude! And hopefully your kids will always remember how much more dedicated their mom is to them than her job.
Way to go Julie! Of course the one thing we as Realtor's never do enough of is set aside time for ourselves and our family. Because we know many of our clients think that they are the only client we have and that we are on call 24/7 for them. I have to myself sometimes not answer the phone for an hour or two to spend time with my family without interuption.
Your husband and children come first....all others, get in line!
It is difficult, at best, to take the time necessary to spend with our families. And, why on earth do we feel guilty about doing the things we need to do? We should all schedule a mandatory number of hours per week to spend w/ family AND for taking care of ourselves. IT IS SO IMPORTANT because only then can we give quality service to our customers.
Thanks for the support guys!

I hope you don't get sick as well and hopefully when you read this they will be feeling much better. It sounds like you needed the break....but thrilled to read you are as busy as you are.
Let's see . . . real estate, kids, real estate, kids . . . the kids have to win . . . real estate will ALWAYS be there for you, the kids are only kids for a short while. What's that country song, "Don't Blink?"
Terri- Yes, they are feeling better now. Thanks! I've actually only got 2 escrows going right now but they're both closing about the same time. The rest is maintenance :)
Robin- Yes my kids always win :)
I chose this career so I could be there when ever they need me....or when I need them :)
Priorities are very important in life. It's like the old question: "Do you live to work or do you work to live?" A person's priorities are their own. I think that what's more important than assessing another person's priorities is being able to respect others for knowing what their priorities are and living by the ones you choose. In your case, Julie, I happen think you made the right choice, but more importantly I respect you for living by the priorities you set for yourself!
