In the Gwinnett edition of the AJC there was a story about the state of the real estate industry. The reporter called me a few times to help him with the story. I was happy to help. I wrote a post about that not long ago.
There are a couple of reasons why I think this is important. First, I love helping people in the media get a better handle on real estate and what is happening in the realm. Second, I am amazed at the power of Google and long tail searches... and Active|Rain. The reporter found me from my posts on the Gwinnett County Real Estate Market and Market Reports on A|R and my blog... especially A|R. Apparently, for that long tail search, I was inescapable.
The only other thing I could have hoped for was a contact box in the article... but that is a bit much.
If you are in the media and need a source for information and insights into real estate, feel free to give me a call. I'm happy to help.
If you are in the market, and want to talk to the source... I'm also happy to help.

Lane: Congratulations on your recent celebrity status!! They didn't just use one little snippet like they do with me--they actually shared your conversation instead of that little 'blurb'! BTW, I clicked on the AJC link and saw how they break down home sales by zip--we too, have alot of zip codes and I'm forever pulling market stats based on zips. I LOVE that site! I wish we had a similar site with true data to use here in Charlotte. It surely would save me alot of hours of research.
Lane, nice job!!! That is wonderful exposure for you!!!
good job, Lane. Funny how reporters google topics too. I'm sure you came up and that is why they called you. Same thing happened to me with the Ann Arbor News when I posted on gas prices.
Good for you, Lane!
The quotes show that you are quite in touch with current conditions in your market.
Lane - this should bring you some business. Good job, and it looks like a pretty accurate report from what I've read about your area.
It seems logical for them to call us but more times than not they ask some one not as familiar with our industry to comment on it especially if it is a bit sensational. Good Job Lane.
Debe - I think we were talking for at least an hour... And I'm not famous.
Marlene - Thanks... and I hope there is some good exposure.
Missy - My A|R blogs were on everything he Googled.
Mike - I'm working on it...
Larry - I hope so.
Terry - I think he was glad that I was making sense of some of the different trends in different areas.
Lane, it seems we become more visible here on Active Rain. I think the media is wise to ask a REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL what the scoop. So many times, what they do report, is not in fact true - especially across the entire country. ;-)
Teri - I've found that the media has reported accurately, just not necessarily right for a particular area.
