Great Success at Home Shows

Over this past weekend I worked the Home Garden and Remodeling Show at our local fair grounds. It cost about 770 to have a booth over the three day period. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. I would pay double for the contacts and leads that i received from this show. It was great people were asking questions left and right. I picked up alot of business cards and people took mine. Just this day I have gotten three calls looking to purchase and or refinance. So in my first time having the show I would highly suggest working these hard and as much as possible.

I never gave these a shot, thinking I'd be drowned out by the likes of Countrywide and Wells Fargo.  Cost was an issue too but you've got me thinking about jumping in on the next one.

 Thanks!

I find a good draw with something engaging to pull a crowd helps.  Nothign beats standing up and shanking hands though.

I walked teh Home and Gardens Show at the Fairgrounds a couple of times but I never thought the financial types got a whole lot of attention...

glad to see you did well... living in south florida now and there are several home and gardens shows each year.

Good for you Ben, keep thinking outside the box and you will do well in your career.

Wow...I'm really surprised.  I've look into this myself, and never convinced myself to jump on the opportunity.  Every home show I've been to I always see the mortgage booths vacant.  I always figured people went to the shows to get ideas, but not to be sold on mortgages.  I might have to reconsider.

This is a great idea.  It is going to be added to my marketing plan.  I have thought about doing a little event in my farm that was similar, this just reinforces that idea.  Thanks for sharing!

People will always take an opportunity to talk about money.

That's how they get the other stuff.

Working the booth means manning the booth, no food or drink, eye contact, approaching the stream of traffic who paid admission for the privilege of having you speak to them.

It's like blogging.  Display knowledge and empathy, and the sell will almost take care of itself.  If you follow up.

Sounds like you did great, Ben!  $770 isn't bad for a three day show, and it sounds like you're going to make that back in no time!!

One of my agents takes the wedding expo, and the homes and gardens, I think the remodelling show too.

A tool used to get into conversation was a giveaway of free street maps.

My favorite!! Stay at home and have a relationship with a lender to get some of the leads!!

We used to do the Bridal Extravaganza for three years.   Too many unqualified leads.  Too many hours standing in the cattle call with tire kickers.  This demo had more on the brain than buying a house.  I'm glad to see another show produced some success.  Next year we will have a booth at the HR convention and target our Value Prop in assisting HR dept recruit to the area based on our  expert sales approach of the communities.  1 year away though.

Some from our RE/MAX Best team here in NJ did this a few weeks ago. I found it helpful to have an ample supply of a free homes magazine available to hand out, along with my brochure or business card attached to it. Our booth also offered a few raffles and, of course, the cards that were filled out were doled out to us as leads to follow up on. I'm a new agent, so all of the smiling and hand shaking was good practice for me.
