Pascack Valley Real Estate>>How This Realtor® Couple Finds Humor In Real Estate

We are often asked how we manage to work together and remain married.  We are a Full Time Husband & Wife Team selling Real Estate in the Pascack Valley area of Bergen County, New Jersey.  We have a long history together having grown up in the area and that helps.  We're each other's best friends.  But Buying and Selling Real Estate is a serious business.  Since laughing smoothes out the rough spots of life,  we laugh alot and often.  Mostly it's at each other.Real Estate Humor

This morning I read a Blog here on Active Rain by Teresa Boardman that made me laugh out loud.  It talked about the dilemma of socks getting lost in the laundry.  My husband, Bob sat across the room from me and peered over his computer to ask what I was laughing about.  I told him that something I read had just reminded me of the time we had attended a Broker Open House at a Million Dollar home.  Bob loves to eat at the Broker Open Houses, so he went into the Kitchen to grab a bite and greet the other agents.  After viewing the home, as we walked down the front path, I noticed that Bob had put his shirt on inside out and neither of us had seen it but surely the others had!  We could only imagine what those agents must have thought of us!

Then there was the time that Bob went running out to show a house wearing his indoor/outdoor slippers.  Thankfully, it was a cold winter day so it occurred to him that his feet were cold.  He drove a few miles before he looked down to see he had his slippers on.  Of course he came rushing home to change into his shoes.

But I'm certainly no better.  As I am writing this, Bob reminds me of the time that I tripped on a sidewalk and skinned my knee so badly that the agent holding the Broker Open House we were attending had to give me first aid for my skinned knee.

Keeping our sense of humor is important to us because we love to laugh and have fun at work while we help people realize their Real Estate dreams!  This Husband & Wife Realtor® Team are committed to helping others in their quest to find the same happiness as we have found in the Bergen County area.

Hi Lisa and Bob - that fun sense of humor will get you through most anything, including working together!  If you aren't having fun, it's a sad day for sure.

Love the slipper story!
Ann

As a new realtor (Many years ago), I was determined to sell a farm.  Dressed in a dress and heels, I started to the edge of a cliff to show the clients a beautiful view, fell, landed with dress over head about 15 feet down, clawing all the way down to hide my dignity!  The 3 men with me was just glad I didn't fall more.  Sold the farm.  Never wore a dress since to show property!!!  LOL

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the read and the comment.  Yeah, that slipper story was pretty funny.  I bought them for him for Christmas because everytime he took the garbage out at night in his slippers, I would cringe.  That'll teach me to mind my own business!

Hi Kay,

Thanks for reading and wow that story was a doozie.  You made "us" laugh!!!!  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lisa....  lol... thanks for the laugh. Overall, it sounds awesome, what the two of you have to share with each other. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Lisa,

Very fun stories!  I am notorious for running around town in my slippers ---- I drive my husband to the train every morning and can never find my shoes quick enuff to make the train.  I have been spotted stopping for coffee, at the post office, at the bakery...in my "slippees".  It does get a little embarrassing when I run into a a customer (or worse yet, another Realtor®) but it does make for a good laugh!

Jeff - Glad we can make others laugh too!

joanne - It's important that we don't take life so seriously, don't ya' think?  Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for sharing your stories, Lisa. It's what makes us human. And you have to be able to laugh at yourself - I sure got a laugh of out of these this morning!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

We both laugh at ourselves all the time.  They say laughter is the best medicine after all.  Thanks for your comments.

Lisa, I'm so glad you shared these stories with us.  I've heard of folks keeping an extra set of all-purpose shoes in their car.  I've never thought to do it but it sounds like it could save some time or embarassment if they're needed.  Your skinned knee made me realize I should re-stock the first aid kit in my car.

May you and Bob share many more laughs together.  How lucky you both are.

Hi Maggie,

Good ideas!  We thank you for visiting us here in the Rain and taking time to leave a comment.

Sounds like you're best friends as well as co workers. Great way to do business. My partner and I do the same thing. We get along great.

Hi Shirley,

My husband, Bob loves Scottsdale and dreams of someday retiring there.  His Mom lives in New Mexico and simply loves the desert.  We appreciate your taking time to read our Blog and make a comment.  Who knows, maybe someday we'll be shopping for real estate in your area!

Hi Chris - Thanks for reading and leaving us a comment.  We wish you the best with your partner as well!
